Please post your current farming builds here if they aren't listed. They needn't be Firestorm or Volcano, or even Speed Farming. Anything helpful to other players is appreciated. Definitions: Farming: Farming is simply playing the game to obtain loot drops, so it can apply to any mode except casual multi-player (MP) games. Farming the campaign yields more chests per hour, and farming MP (particularly leagues) will yield loot of a higher average value and rarity. Speed Farming: Speed farming is repeatedly running all or part of an adventure. It only applies to single player (SP). The speed advantage derives from choosing maps you can complete quickly, and not needing to change your build. It's all about the number of chests per hour. I know of 3 common reasons to speed farm. - To play without exhausting adventures while waiting for the Loot Fairy and Hidden Bandit to move. - To farm for items in a particular level range. - To grind for items/gold. Getting Started New players can use whatever they have available to farm whatever is quickest to obtain better gear. Simply adding Firestorm (FS) items to your 1/1/1 beginner party is how most players progress. Replacing your warrior with another wizard when you get enough FS items for two is usually the next step. The most popular farming builds primarily use Firestorm and Volcano, but they aren't always best for all maps. Beginner Flash of Agony (FoA) and Firestorm Builds Level Restricted Farm Builds Note: Only for Speed Farming. Don't use these to complete adventures or they'll level up! Level 1 Flash of Agony 3x Level 1 Dwarf Wizard Staff Of The Misanthrope Armorbane Pendant Goat Boots or Glimmer BootsUseful on open maps, such as Tvericus, map 1. Level 4 Flash of Agony Level 4 Elf Wizard Staff Of The Misanthrope Armorbane Pendant Armorbane Pendant Robe Of Lightness or any robe with armor Bertha's Big Clogs or any armor or trait boots Electroporter NoviceThis doesn't mix well with firestorm. Any race can be used, but getting to a spot where you don't have line-of-sight (LoS) of your party, but can target most or all of your foes can be crucial. Humans do okay on some maps. For wide open maps, use dwarves. Level 1 Firestorm Level 1 Dwarf Wizard Staff Of The Inferno or Mullik's Blisterstaff Chartwell's Ring or whatever FS item you have Bertha's Big Clogs or Goat Boots or whateverThis is the equivalent of a missile boat. Strong firepower and short life expectancy. Kind of a stop-gap build for when you don't have enough FS gear for another level 4 FS wizard. Level 4 Firestorm Level 4 Dwarf Wizard Staff Of The Inferno Chartwell's Ring or any FS item Chartwell's Ring or any FS item Firehide Robes or Emberfloat Mantle, or any robe with Resistant Hide Bertha's Big Clogs or any armor or trait boots Electroporter NoviceFor 1 HP quests, use elves instead. Staff: The traits on Staff of the Inferno really help cycle your cards, but for a 3x wizard build some of us like having one guy without Combustible. (Because you need someone alive to claim victory.) Good substitute staves for this purpose include Mullik's Blisterstaff, Staff Of The Misanthrope, Trog Melter, and Greenspark Staff Should I include a priest? If you don't have enough gear to equip 3 wizards, definitely. It is sometimes a good idea even if you do. Priests can buff damage and provide healing and card draws. Any frenzy will negate Weak Blocks vs. FS or FOA. If you have good divine weapons, priests can serve as tanks and substitute for armor removal. Savage Curse can compensate for a low percentage of FoA or FS in your wizard's deck. An Impenetrable Nimbus priest can be a huge advantage at higher levels. On the other hand, 3 wizards with strong decks can pump more damage more consistently, which is really all you need much of the time. Priests are usually helpful when starting out, but you may grow out of the need for them. It's something you'll figure out as you go along.
This is an example of a Shieldhaven FS build using a "normal" wizard with two 4th levels. The 4th levels mark it as a "speed farming only" build. The 4th levels carry the best FS items because they have the best deck rotation, and I want them to have the highest FS saturation. The higher level wizard has the lower quality FS items and doesn't have a Combustible trait. His primary function is to participate and stay alive. His secondary function is to use the Blisterstaff's Force Cones and Stookster's Telekinesis to move the other wizards into firing position if needed. (It's a lot stronger than it was a month or two ago.) Level 20 Dwarf Wizard Mullik's Blisterstaff Mullik's Blisterstaff Brin's Storm Locket Azgul's Orb Stookster's Amulet Brin's Storm Locket Firehide Robes Kerrick's Steel Boots Charging Battler Electroporter Novice Level 4 Dwarf Wizard Staff Of The Inferno Chartwell's Ring Chartwell's Ring Firehide Robes Bertha's Big Clogs Electroporter Novice Level 4 Dwarf Wizard Staff Of The Inferno Chartwell's Ring Azgul's Orb Firehide Robes Bertha's Big Clogs Electroporter Novice
This is my Ruby Demon Portal build. Level 20 Dwarf Priest St. Amarack's Cudgel St. Amarack's Cudgel Dark Chain Shirt Bullseye Shield or Spellthwart Shield Bertha's Big Clogs Bleneth's Frenzy Charm St. Bethan's Charm Bleneth's Frenzy Charm Untrained Toughness Novice Medic Level 20 Dwarf Wizard Mullik's Blisterstaff Mullik's Blisterstaff Chartwell's Ring Chartwell's Ring Chartwell's Ring Azgul's Orb Firehide Robes Hawkwind's Moccasins or Marmot Boots Charging Battler Electroporter Novice Level 20 Dwarf Wizard Mullik's Blisterstaff Mullik's Blisterstaff Chartwell's Ring Azgul's Orb Chartwell's Ring Chartwell's Ring Firehide Robes Hawkwind's Moccasins Charging Battler Electroporter Novice Boots with movement help a lot if the targets won't close. On the 3rd map I swap in Bertha's Big Clogs for the wizards, if I remember. The targets move to the victory points, and don't need to be chased.
This is a more standard FS build for level 5 & 6 adventures. Level 20 Dwarf Wizard Staff Of The Inferno Staff Of The Inferno Brin's Storm Locket Azgul's Orb Chartwell's Ring Chartwell's Ring Firehide Robes Sticky Slippers Raging Battler Electroporter Novice Level 20 Dwarf Wizard Staff Of The Inferno Staff Of The Inferno Chartwell's Ring Chartwell's Ring Brin's Storm Locket Chartwell's Ring Firehide Robes Sticky Slippers Raging Battler Electroporter Novice Level 20 Dwarf Wizard Mullik's Blisterstaff Wym's Lavastaff Chartwell's Ring Chartwell's Ring Azgul's Orb Brin's Storm Locket Firehide Robes Bertha's Big Clogs Raging Battler Electroporter Novice Deck rotation is a big deal for the first two. The third wiz is "Non-Combustible Guy" (NCG), so survival is a bigger consideration. Add armor removal to NCG for the Kobold maps. This build does Forest of Souls and The Sinister Wood in about 1 round per map. For Forest of Souls I swap in Quellic's Boots (or Kerrick's Steel Boots) for NCG. For The Sinister Wood I keep Quellic's and add a second Wym's Lavastaff for NCG. (My builds are pretty legendary-heavy because I've been doing this for a while.)
I totally spaced an existing thread about current farming builds. Here are some other threads with farming builds that are still valid: Gravediggers by Kalin (Tvericus map 1 speed farming) Melvin's Agony by neoncat (Cockroaches map 1 speed farming) The Salt Shaker by Jarmo (Swamp King, maps 1 & 2 speed farming)
This is what I use for farming stuff with fewer but tougher enemies like Melvelous the Magnificent, the Gladiatorial Arenas, or the 3 low level AotA modules. Maedhel Level 20 Elf Warrior Blazing Shortsword Infused Greatclub Maquah Of Ancient Blood Perilous Ringmail Twisting Shield Gouging Helm Goat Boots Cautious Mobility Novice Bruising Curtoruer Level 20 Elf Warrior Blazing Shortsword Infused Greatclub Maquah Of Ancient Blood Perilous Ringmail Twisting Shield Gouging Helm Goat Boots Cautious Mobility Novice Bruising Nerlaze Level 21 Human Priest St. Amarack's Cudgel St. Amarack's Cudgel Unholy Nimbus Twisting Shield Goat Boots Bleneth's Frenzy Medallion Bleneth's Frenzy Tome Bleneth's Frenzy Tome Novice Command Novice Piety I use elf warriors because hp isn't as big of an issue as actually getting close to your victims. Armor doesn't matter all that much either so try to get stuff with step attacks for Elven Maneuvers or traits to get to better cards sooner. If you don't have a strong tokenless weapon equip the ones with the biggest attacks or a bunch of step attacks. Even weak attacks do work with a buff on, especially if you draw them off of Elven Maneuvers. As you get tokens, upgrade weapons immediately. Make sure to avoid piercing and slashing attacks when you face skeletons and crushing attacks against slimes. The priest is pretty epic and legendary heavy but you basically want as many copies of Mass Frenzy as possible. If you don't have Mass Frenzy weapons use trait heavy ones like Sacrificial Axe and Vampire's Blade or ones with Unholy Frenzy. Shuddering Relic and Incense Of Roiled Air are the two best cheap sources of Mass Frenzy but anything will do. I chose human for the command cards but any race is fine as long as you use a trait heavy racial skill. If you don't have many Mass Frenzy items you can use Unholy Wellspring and Unholy Frenzy or card draw like Inspiration. You could also just play a third warrior if you think you could do more damage that way.
With as many save slots as we have now we could actually try to get people to post their fastest builds for each adventure. One could list the adventure they use the build for and the average number of rounds to get through the whole adventure (I think rounds is better than time as it's easier to track and doesn't vary with animation settings or computer/internet speed).
This is what I use for lvl2-5 (I only add Kerrick's Steel Boots when I get token available) Wizards burn, warrior really speeds up some adventures (Chiefs, Slub Gut, etc.. he's a great survivor also) Possible additions: more firestorm items ( I have just 4 x2 FS items..) This build finishes all 2-5 adventures in ~18minutes.
