Xemu's Crown Spoiler: Previously Reviewed Multiplayer All three cards are fine although they're not too commonly played. Short Perplexing Ray and Cone Of Cold are not as good as they used to be as they can only delay attacks rather than stopping them completely. Both are also much better against melee teams since opposing wizards will be out of range and will not need movement as much. That being said, you can catch people off guard since no one will not be playing around these seldom used cards. Stone Spikes can be used as a pseudo cantrip card in a pinch. Your opponent will have to decide between giving up priority or taking 6 damage. Stone Spikes can also be used to slow progress down narrow passages by forcing your opponent to use an extra movement card in order to pass over it. Singleplayer Single target cards like Short Perplexing Ray and Stone Spikes take a major hit in singleplayer. The enemies often have large shared hands so taking one away is negligible. This can still be used to put some distance between your wizard and the mob but Telekinesistype cards just do the job better. Using Stone Spikes on a single enemy while there are a dozen running around is similarly miserable. If you really want to use damaging terrain in adventures where you are outnumbered Wall Of Fire and Volcano are much more effective at affecting multiple targets. Now that encumber can no longer be used to immobilize, Cone of Cold is useless against mobs that use Shuffle as their base movement. No more zombiecicles. Peon's prescription for prodigious players- Xemu's Crown is a bit too unfocused. While the cards are decent you would be better off seeking items that contain two or more copies of the desired card so that you can tune your wizard to your liking. Would not purchase this item. Substitutes Axander's Twisted Circlet (E), Farzil's Perplexing Horn (E) major token: Short Perplexing Ray Hasek's Icy Ring (E), Hylithia's Wand (E), Xochu's Icy Circlet (E): Cone Of Cold Bloodfoot Wand (E), Eych's Amulet (E): Stone Spikes The Daily Deal Did Peon Buy It? Nope. I don't like items that make me work for them. By that I mean items that mix and match cards, even if they all go in the same archetype. I realize the Short Perplexing Ray, Cone Of Cold, and Stone Spikes all go on a control wizard and if you regularly use all 3 together Xemu's Crown is a good deal. However, not everyone likes marshmallows in their sweet potatoes. I prefer getting more focused items and doing the cooking for myself. Epics Angry Jack's Helmet Best all around minor token helmet. Tough Leather Cap is also good but more of a role filler. Ettin's Club Eixocl's Hammer is better. If you just want Lunging Bashes Porior's Nimble Mace gives you a token discount though I'm not sure what kind of turkey would want Lunging Bash that badly. Stargod's Raiments Fantastic armor, powerful hard to get spell, and an attack that any priest would be thankful for. Notable Rares Focused Healer (BN) Talented Healer a vamp priest's best friend. Not only do you get incidental heals from all your vamp attacks but by making them Cantrip, you can chain them together and suck people dry out of nowhere. With so many good low an no token items, vamp's usually don't have problem with the major token, but if you want to run vamps in low level modules Manifold Healer is the way to go. Witchy Robes (N) If there's one thing people tend to shy away from it's uncertainty. Whirlwinds are definitely random, it even says so in the card text. While I can't tell you where everything will land, I can tell you that it will be a pain in the butt for your opponent. Camping out on a victory square? Whirlwind. Finally got within striking distance of your wizard? Whirlwind. Got blocks waiting for a juicy target? I hope Whirlwind is good enough for you. Being able to inconvenience the entire opposing side is incredibly powerful. Witchy Robes gives you two more cracks at Whirlwinds and a Resistant Hide to boot. You also have the option of the legendary Uula's Whirling Robes for an Arcane Shell but at the cost of a Whirlwind Enemies which isn't worth it. Spoiler: Rare Rating Code (B)est of the Best Who needs legendaries and epics when you have rares like these? This item is not only powerful but also fits in well established multiplayer or farming archetypes. (N)iche This is a great item but fits in a very specific build. You should only consider purchasing if you have that particular strategy in your sights. (P)layable Not the best. Not the worst. This item is simply solid all around and I believe could see play. If that isn't enough of a ringing endorsement then I don't know what is. Oh, and you can go ahead and assume that any item that falls into other categories is playable as well. I will not list things that I would not be willing to play myself. (U)nique There is nothing quite like this item. Its cards or combination of cards are not found on other items of the same slot or not on other items period. If this item catches your fancy you should take a second look because you won't find anything similar elsewhere. (V)alue There may be better options but this item won't bust your piggy bank.
What about untrained flexibility? Seems playable if you need a human mage for covering distances and pretty sinergistic with the range four magic spells. I'm pretty sure I saw it at 1500 ELO so I'm a bit curious about it.
It isn't good for covering distances. You can only use it when next to enemy characters so it is an escape card. Useful, but not something I'd go out of my way to play puny humans/Slowed for. Not unless a better tokenless skill with Retreat comes out .
I had five hundred gold saved up from grinding low level missions, I grabbed angry jacks helmet, but I tried to grind up enough for focused healer and stargods raiments. I do hope that was the correct choice. It seems to be, I just want to farm the low levels for vampires blade and misanthrope. Its a shame the missions became so unfun later on.
Unfun is a matter of personal taste, I guess. Now that I have good farming builds, I mostly enjoy seeing them go by so quickly as the gold piles up.
Im talking the ones with five battles or absurdly tanky foes or the ones with eight immunties and whatnot. I don't mind the three battles against moderately tough foes, but then again, im going to eat smores and play cardhunter one day. I already have smores. This has no context nor does it matter, I just feel that it was needed. I kinda wanted the stargod raiments because bless is on two items in the game, stargods raiments and st.ulrichs bones.
Suvv's Boots Of Escape Spoiler: Previously Reviewed Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers Suvv's Boots of Escape are the only boots that can draw you 3 cards. Paring down your effective deck size is one of the most powerful things you can do. The less cards you have to draw the more often you're going to see your most powerful cards. However, unlike trait cards, Escaping Run requires you to give up initiative to reap the benefits. If you are using it to draw cards on a melee character you either have to move away and give your opponent the opportunity to retreat or stand your ground and let your opponent get an extra hit in. If you're playing a wizard, you need to maneuver close enough to let your opponent get next to you, which is not ideal. If you're using it on a support priest you need to again move close to the enemy or keep hanging on to Escaping Run turn after turn until you have the chance to use it. Requiring a major token is another big factor that you need to weigh in. Overall, I believe Suvv's Boots of Escape won't draw you the full 3 cards often enough to justify both the tempo loss and the token cost. Would not purchase. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayers If using minor token boots is a faux pas then using major token boots is a felony punishable by harsh ridicule from your peers. I'm talking mean stuff. Someone might even call you a ruffian. If you're using the token on boots just to conditionally cycle cards there are probably some other slots that could be upgraded for greater effect. Would not purchase. Substitutes Lum's Moccasins (E) : Escaping Run Ballet Shoes (C) , Sticky Slippers (R) : Deck size reduction The Daily Deal Did Peon Buy It? Nope. If I've got a spare token situational card draw is not high on my wishlist. I'm not saying I haven't occasionally equipped it but it's rare that I have nothing better to do. Epics Atchocl's Spear One of the more playable single minor token weapons but I'd try to get Maquah Of Ancient Blood instead. Flaming Sword A way overcosted Blazing Shortsword. Xalanen's Boots Skipping Boots are better. Notable Rares Captain's Coat (P) Dynamic Armor is an extremely cool card that previously suffered from poor itemization. However, slap a Force Field next to it and you've suddenly got a good excuse to play it. If you're looking to exploit the movement half of Dynamic Armor with Elven Maneuvers, you may be interested in the less powerful but more synergistic Ogre Hide Armor. Force Field lovers can also turn to Spiked Forcemail and the epic Spaceproof Carapace for more defensive options. Spacediver's Face Screen (P) This helmet has it all. Top notch defense, free attacks, and a little card draw thrown in for good measure. Spacediver's Face Screen would be a great candidate for Best of the Best were it not for its token cost. Sadly, most warriors simply cannot afford to devote a major token to the helmet slot. Those that do tend to want something extra defensive like Bubble Helmet. However, I would use Spacediver's Face Screen if you're looking for the best Mimetic Crown helmet. Alternatively, you can go for the less powerful but more consistent Flexible Space Helmet for your Mimetic needs. however, the farmers out there aren't as nice as you are veza, My guinea pig agrees, shes never wrong either.
Shieldripper Spoiler: Previously Reviewed Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers Unnerving Strike is decent but it isn't all that it's cracked up to be. The average melee character has 3 blocks and the average wizard has none. Most of the time Unnerving Strike winds up being a Strong Bludgeon. When you do catch someone with a block there's a good chance it's a high percentage block like Parry which will still trigger 50% of the time. Unnerving Strike is even worse currently due to widespread usage of Aegis Of The Defender. Not only is everyone down a block for you to remove but you also can no longer assume that the character your opponent leads out with has a block in hand. While fine on lower costed weapons where you really only want the 8 damage with occasional card advantage, spending two major tokens for copies of a relatively low damage card that doesn't live up to expectations is overkill. Would not purchase. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayers You can use Shieldripper in modules starting at level 14. There are a couple of mobs with annoying blocks including those damn dirty monkeys. The majority of them have block melees. What are you trying to tell us Peon? Is little Timmy stuck in the well? Spoiler USE YO WIZARDS Would not purchase. Substitutes Maquah Of Ancient Blood (E) , Riptide (E) The Daily Deal Did Peon Buy It? Nope. Most warriors run low damage utility or filler attacks that act as block bait. Using Unnerving Strike to clear a path for these cards is backwards. You use those Dancing Cuts to clear a path for the awesome major token attacks instead. Epics Impervious Panoply If you want Arrogant Armor but only have a minor token to spare, Impervious Panoply is the heavy armor for you. Mindsplinter Staff Mindsplinter Staff used to be the Infused Greatclub of staves. Top heavy items actually work better on wizards since they are much better at stalling with control spells at their disposal. However, with the addition of Mega Laser, there isn't too much reason to go with Mindsplinter Staff anymore unless you really want the Hard to Block or don't want to use up all your major tokens. Decent for Flash Of Agony farming but for the same token cost you could be using Searing Pain instead and there's Staff Of Pain as a less token intensive alternative. Scourge Of The Overmind The poor man's Zoltan's Laser Scourge. Do yourself a favor and hold out for the real deal. Notable Rares Disruptive Warp Pistol (NV) If you're looking to run Accelerate Time, you've probably got some damaging terrain going on. However, one lousy movement card from your opponent and your plans fall apart. That's where Whirlwind Enemies and Force Cannon come in. Together, they potentially counteract 4 movement cards to help make sure that your freshly cast Volcano doesn't go to waste. Of course, there's always a chance for Whirlwind Enemies to backfire, in which case you might want the more reliable legendary Reality Warper instead. If you're looking to abuse Accelerate Time with attachments instead, the legendary Flame Warper would be more suitable. Shielding Warp Boots (U) The only way to get Force Field on boots and Warp Run acts as a pseudo Purge for any class. Other options for defensive minor token boots include the epic Vinorkin's Boots for Violent Spin and the epic Kerrick's Steel Boots for Reliable Mail. Sparkling Cloth Armor boots like Diamond Moccasins can also do wonders on defense but mostly against melee characters. Smoke Pin (N) Smoke Bomb is the premier wizard hoser and Smoke Pin is the best item to get it with. While Smoke Bomb is situationally useful for clearing out terrain attachments and overlaying difficult terrain, you generally won't want it unless you are expecting to face an abundance of ranged attacks. It is also fairly difficult to get a good offense going with your wizard within the cover of Smoke Bomb, with cone spells and Firestorm being your best options, so you need to be fully committed to having a relatively impotent wizard before running Smoke Pin. Spoiler: Rare Rating Code (B)est of the Best Who need legendaries and epics when you have rares like these? This item is not only powerful but also fits in well established multiplayer or farming archetypes. (N)iche This is a great item but fits in a very specific build. Yup, not for your average warrior but I'm definitely going to give it a go if it ever pops up. I'm thinking about pairing it with Powerpike, Eixocl's Hammer, and maybe a Quinn's Buckler to really hammer that gimmick home.
I'd like to mention that Shielding Warp Boots is the only way that you can get Force Field on any item with a minor power token. IMHO it's the perfect boots for wizards with 2 x Staff Of The Inferno. (for low to mid level Firestorm farming)
I didn't know maquah of ancient blood was considered THAT good. Its seriously surprising since I have it and never really used it. It just kinda seemed counterintuitive to me that you would want a weapon for your heavy attack class that damages you for having lots of attacks.
Unless you save attacks from the previous turn, you are taking at most 4 damage minus whatever gets prevented by armor. The worst part about it is actually revealing your attacks or lack of attacks.
true, but then again, thats why I refer to you as the god of value. How are we sure you are not the stargod whos raiments are so awesome? I wonder if the next expansion that is undoubtably planned will give us some good common/uncommon/rare staves. Also, reckless warp boots. I have it, I don't know anything about it, but it looks strange. Also, peon....What would you say is in your opinion the most powerful heavy armor for warriors? Doesn't matter if its for bejeweled elves or dwarf tanks or humans.
