I suspect there might be a problem with giving Free Action cards to players.

Free action does nothing to non-minion groups.

Only because it will confuse players.

Three copies of an Uncommon would make it just Rare, while three Rares make a Legendary regardless of whether or not they are the same. The problem is in finding rare boost traits, since there are only four such cards in the game and I don't think Flax will allow players to have Invisibility or Mass Invisibility.

Here's the best I can do:
    Hammered Healer
    Divine Skill
    Crusher, Impetuous Heal, Twin Heals

Didn't realize that. Thanks! (I guess it shows how much I play MM.)

If you have ever ducked a scan or some other attack you were also know.

As a Bronze block it might be a bit undervalued due to the card draw, but it only blocks 1 of the 2 styles of attacks (melee vs. ranged) so bronze fits.
What makes Parry feel so strong is it is a great roll AND a card draw. The card draw probably should have bumped it up to a Bronze +.
Most of the time it is completely irrelevant, for example Parrying Buckler would go from level 9 to level 12 and looking through the wiki it would only have a token effect on 4 items and really only 1 or 2 that would be significant:
    Tough Charger 0 to (minortoken)
Sorcerers' Staff, Short Blasting Staff and Swamp Staff all go from (minortoken)(minortoken) to (minortoken)(majortoken)

Obviously this puts Tough Charger from okay to meh
And the only one of those staves I have ever given a second look at was the Swamp Staff.

Parry is not a strong enough card (due to not blocking magic) to be a silver maybe a Silver - and every silver block card (player usable) is special in some manner (Icy Block, Hard to Pin Down, Surging Shield Block, Auto Block, Cause Fumble, Counterspell).

Of course this would change the aforementioned "Elite Halberd" (note player designed item does not exist) to (majortoken)(majortoken) which would make me rethink the design since I think (majortoken)(majortoken) weapons with 4 or less attacks are really hard to build with. This is why Reaper's Scythe keeps getting looked at but not equipped (although the Dodge nerf might be the other reason).
But I think of the three I designed the Master's Morningstar and Elite Halberd would immediately see play, with the Halberd bordering on OP.

  8. Drawing a card for blocking is preeeetty special (actually, due to how important card advantage is, I'd say it's way stronger than some of those other effects). I would rather see a tweak on parry than bumping it up to silver though. Like make it basically a subtle parry but only works on attacks with damage 5+ instead.

  9. That would arguably make it even better. How often are you happy when your parry stops a weak strike or bludgeon?

Just the draw is for 5+ attacks.

  12. Ah, that makes sense.

  13. Yeah, I just want to see parry have some sort of meaningful counterplay. Considering the ubiquity of mass frenzy and other boost cards, making it the opposite of subtle parry wouldn't even be all that big of a change. It'd also be an indirect nerf to BJSS. :p

    War Cry. Nimble Strike. *shrug*

  15. I'm running war cry right now actually. I mean it's nice, but it's pretty much a gamble on whether or not they have a parry in the first place. If they don't, you're basically down a card. If they do, it's usually a one for one trade, which is good for parry and defender, but so-so for most of the other blocks. Nimble strike doesn't get rid of the parry, and at the end of the day, they will still have that card advantage over you most likely. At least if it only drew on 5+, it isn't as punishing to have a few weak attacks in your deck.

War Cry affects non-Parry blocks, and every warrior without a Shield of Ultimate Dodging has at least one block I believe.
Nimble Strike doesn't remove a block but it can set up flanking situations where you can guarantee a hit with Startling or Unnerving Strike (or just play ping pong and kill without ever running into blocks).

As I explain in the other thread, already linked here, Parry is an exceptional card. It's undervalued, but it's also a keystone of the format. Change it and a lot of things will change. There's no real point. And anyway I think we're getting way off-topic. Keep Parry discussion in the Parry thread (or one of them if there're multiple) hereonout, please. Back to items!

I had a pretty cool idea for a staff a while back, when I was discussing the topic with a fellow Ironwood member. If you were the progenitor of the idea or at least helped, feel free to tell me, because I can't remember. Probably going to submit it to Aloyzo's next chance I can, so please do chime in with suggestions!

  18. Well, it's not discussing if the staff is set on not changing it. On-topic: Someone make a good War Cry item!

I really like the staff, but I'm not a fan of legendary AA items. :)
