This was noted and I think Jon has already fixed it— I and the 3 people who tied with me in my pod each won 13 chests, and I'm guessing a similar thing happened to you (maybe you only tied with 2 other people). Anyway, fix is coming in next build I hope!
I had the same number of wins (but fewer points) as one person, but he should have gotten 1 EAC and 1 MAC. The bottom two people didn't win any games, so there were 3 AC unclaimed. No idea where my extra 6 AC came from, but I got some nice items from them (Salubrious Mobility, Thin Sparkling Cloak, Araco's Boots).
So, feedback on the league test. Pods are weird. Especially for this mini league where 1/5 of the participants received the top prize. Once the bugs are squashed I hope we'll have another test league with normal values for fee, pod size, length, etc. Pods also seem to be somewhat exploitable. I mentioned this in another thread, but the Terms of Service should be changed to prohibit multiple accounts on the live server, otherwise players could fill a pod with themselves. And my strategy for the next league will be to wait until the signup period is 80% done before entering, so all the pods with hardcore players will already be filled and I'll hopefully be competing against newbies and procrastinators. (I'll have to be careful not to wait too long and risk ending up in an incomplete pod.)
And pay 5x the entrance fee? Doesn't sound like much of an exploit, more like a whale strategy (not that I condone pod padding). Multiple accounts have legitimate uses too *. I think the current policy of only banning multiple accounts if they are used in cross-exploiting is better. The player community is (unfortunately!) currently small enough for exploiters to stick out like a sore thumb. I counter-propose that the Terms of Service be amended with "playing against yourself with multiple accounts in ranked or league play is prohibited on pain of banning" etc. * For example, playing MP at several different ratings ranges at the same time to enjoy more opponent and build diversity. To experiment with different, possibly very non-competitive, MP builds without tanking your rating. To play MP with less internal pressure to perform. To re-enjoy the campaign content without needing to ask for an account reset. To rekindle your interest in collecting with a blank inventory slate without losing your main account with a mature collection. Etc.
It's a way to make a profit, if the sum of the cash rewards for all prize levels is greater than the fee * pod size.
There are no cash rewards. At best, you're getting some degree of discount on your Pizza and artifact chest "purchases". As the potential benefit is spread over five accounts I still don't see it as much of a real winning tactic. Lots of trouble and risk of losing the accounts for not that much gain, seems to me.
In Artifact Anarchy, first prize gave 50 pizza and second place gave 25 pizza in addition to chests. Also, if you win a figure you already own it will be converted to 80 pizza. And really, I think they'll have a hard time attracting players if they don't offer cash prizes. Would you pay 10 pizza for a 50% chance at a magnificent chest?
Pizza is not cash. Getting some as a prize after paying 5x the entrance fee at best means getting some discount Pizza. Whether you'll even end up with more than you paid for depends on the unknown entrance fee. If the fee is high enough, congratz, pod padder, you just bought some Pizza. Whoop-de-doo.
