I hoarded all my common/uncommon rewards and it became laggy.

When I got a chest and got the items, I only sold the treasures. I had so many items in my inventory that scrolling through the list lagged...

I decided to take matter into my own hands and cleared out my inventory (kept 3 of each item, some I kept more). Here's the result:



Note that I started off around 3400 gold.

It is SO MUCH BETTER, a ton of lag gone. Yay.

 

Pfft, woes of a collector.

Perhaps that's why I don't have my inventory full of junk and this:

 

It is actually pointless to keep more items than you can use on your current characters for example having more than 3 pairs of boots would be pointless as you can only have 3 characters each of which can use a maximum of 3 of the same pair of boots.
Same goes for all other items even specialised items such as Warrior Weapons of which you should have 9 of in case you want to run triple warrior and have all three of them have the same weapon.
A good way of checking which items are safe to sell is neoncat's collection excess tool http://www.stexe.com/util/collection-excess.php that way you will will have a well-sorted collection, less lag and more gold.

1. Go to the campaign map.
2. Open the console by pressing [F1] twice.
3. Type "cls" and press [return].
4. Type "verbose" and press [return].
5. Close the console by pressing [F1] once.
6. Enter the Keep
7. Open the console by pressing [F1] twice.
8. Type "clip" and press [return].
9. Type "verbose" and press [return].
10. Paste the log data into the text area below.
11. Click "Process Data".

 

The huge lag from having lots of items is one of the reasons I don't play much these days.

Obviously I could sell the stuff to reduce the lag... but I don't want to sell the stuff! Collecting stuff is one of the things I enjoy about the game.

 

Well said, @karadoc . @Oberon, from whom I learned so much about farming, also taught hoarding to satisfy the inner dragon. Eventually I relented and sold all excess except legendary treasures in order to keep the game running smoothly.

In gamer terms, I gave in to the dork side.

 

I got max usable of common, uncommon and rare Items, and also I'm at 94 % of epics for max usable. And my game doesn't lag. But if i didn't clean the excess I'm sure it will lag so much.
