Why do monsters have so many turns?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered, but why do I only get to play one card while the monsters obviously play 3-4 each turn? Is this just a play balance issue? Thanks.

The monsters in groups all get to move if the group plays a move card. On the other hand, they can only attack once per round each (they turn grey once they have attacked for that round). This balances things out.

This system was created during development to make big groups of monsters manageable and balanced. It works pretty well. Once you learn to play well (which you do during the single player campaign) you will notice the monsters are still mostly pretty easy. They can't hope to match human ingenuity. If they couldn't move as a group, they'd be hopelessly easy to win against.

Note that a group of monster sharing a hand will draw less cards each turn everytime you kill one of them.

Also note that if there are card monkeys present (servants or such who "Sound the Alarm"), each member of each allied group will draw a card each time the alarm sounds. This can cause a lot of extra actions to deal with.
