Guess i'm the only one who takes well over a week or two to get 2500? Also, yes, Mouse Boots are awesome, but there's so many good tokenless...even Goat Boots are preferred, depending.
Personally, I rarely buy anything in the daily deal or randi even when I first started, so I generally have a good stash of money saved each week. I would only buy must-have legendaries or uncommon/common that I need immediately (like Bejeweled Shortsword or those flying boots for wicked waterways...).
Overheated Staff Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers The first time I reviewed Overheated Staff, I overestimated the importance of having extra Instant Burns. They are great but only if there are enough burning attachments to retrigger. It is better to draw too many burning spells, even redundant ones as they can still be thrown at a different target, than too many naked Instant Burns. That minor token you save from running Overheated Staff over White Flame will most likely be used towards upgrading an Azgul's Orb to one of the good legendary minor token burning arcane items. Give up 2 Instant Burns and you upgrade 2 Firestorms to premium burning spells and get a Flame Spit that likely won't ever be a dead attachment due to not being found on many of the best burning items. There will obviously be situations where either staff will be better than the other so there isn't a clear cut winner. Alternatively, you could pair Overheated Staff with Red Flame and give up copies of Ember Burst instead but I think you give up too much reach going that route. Whichever way you go, it is a judgment call that you will have to make for yourself. Would purchase if you want Instant Burn at a token discount. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayers An Instant Burn fueled burning wizard will take down single targets like nothing else (if they're unarmored of course) and the minor token savings is particularly relevant for lower levels where tokens are restricted. However, the good burning arcane items all cost a minor token so you will likely have to look elsewhere for high single target damage. I would suggest damaging terrain like Hot Spot or the ever impressive Punishing Bolt, both of which can be gotten for little or no tokens. Or better yet, leave the wizards at home and bust out the heavy hitting warriors and vamp priests. Would not purchase. Substitutes None Did Peon Buy It? No, but I would definitely consider it if I didn't already own a White Flame. Epics Argo's Boots Good for Elven Maneuvers and Leadership comboing alike. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives though, both in terms of token cost and gold. Novice Evasion Bland but effective. I can't imagine an elf warrior passing up on Cautious Mobility but an elf vamp would make good use out of Novice Evasion. Yoloxl's Staff Awesome control spells but those Jumpsparks are deal breakers if you can't buff them up. Most wizards opt to rely solely on arcane items for control spells. You could also go for Whiterune Staff or Pearwood Staff if you've got the double major tokens. Notable Rares Inspired Command (P) Inspirational Thinking is the most powerful draw effect in the game so it gets paired with less than stellar cards. The difference with Inspired Command is that Shuffle, Team! and Subtle Parry, while weak, are moderately useful. If you like "going big or going home" strategies this may just be the skill for you. Spoiler: Rare Rating Code (B)est of the Best Who needs legendaries and epics when you have rares like these? This item is not only powerful but also fits in well established multiplayer or farming archetypes. (N)iche This is a great item but fits in a very specific build. You should only consider purchasing if you have that particular strategy in your sights. (P)layable Not the best. Not the worst. This item is simply solid all around and I believe could see play. If that isn't enough of a ringing endorsement then I don't know what is. Oh, and you can go ahead and assume that any item that falls into other categories is playable as well. I will not list things that I would not be willing to play myself. (U)nique There is nothing quite like this item. Its cards or combination of cards are not found on other items of the same slot or not on other items period. If this item catches your fancy you should take a second look because you won't find anything similar elsewhere. (V)alue There may be better options but this item won't bust your piggy bank. PS While I wouldn't call it playable, the siren call of the 5 Laser Block warrior dual wielding Laser Halberds is almost to tempting to resist. Luckily, I don't own or plan on owning any Throon's Quick Laser Shields.
I never have more than 100 gold at a time, I either buy something from the daily deal or spend it on chests hoping to get something good
Well, I did get a free trembling staff and I don't think its very good, seems actually pretty terrible if you ask me, I have over five hundred as I was attempting a mad rush to get enough for overheated today but ran out of time before I could get enough. Eh well, I will keep saving and grinding the low level quests since all the ones past level five are terrible and unfun to play so I regard them with the same amount of respect as I regard being stabbed in the face with a dagger smeared in fecal matter.
Trembling Staff isn't as good as it was before Arcane Curse replaced one of the Vulnerables. Combined with Runestones and a double Hover robe, it made an extremely tight-decked control wizard. This was before draw limits, encumbrance nerfs, and the rise of burrft It still works pretty well in SP. I'm not sure about MP.
whats burrft? Why can't I find a changelog of the old cards and everything? I really do like to look over things and its downright shameful developers don't keep copies of their old cards before nerfs and before removal. I keep all my old gamemastery logs and homebrew files around so I don't make the same mistakes I made last time
Captain Cedric's Boots Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers Captain Cedric's Boots are the only minor token Team Walk boots without weak cards and the only ones with all great movement cards. Team Walk is not an auto include like Team Run used to be but it still facilitates a strategy of ganging up on the weak or stranded. While it can be tempting to use boots with more powerful individual cards like Diamond Moccasins, if you've got more than one offensive melee character, getting to fight dirty by bringing friends along with Team Walk is too good to pass up. Highly recommend purchasing. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayers There is very little use for team movement in singleplayer. You are often too heavily outnumbered and the big boss enemies that you do want to gang up on tend to be melee types that come to you. What you do need movement for is to chase down ranged mobs and a bunch of move 2s aren't going to cut it. Would not purchase Substitutes Rhood's Boots (E) , Salazar's Sandals (E) , Sliding Boots (E) Did Peon Buy It? Yes, but not today. Already have a full set. I'll admit that tokenless boots have gotten the nod more often than not since the change to Team Run but when I've got the minor token to spare for boots, Captain Cedric's Boots are the ones I turn to for melee parties. Epics Nanahut's Morningstar You're not going to want Cleansing Ray often. When you are running a terrain strategy, the utility of Pressing Bashes on Bahoxl's Maul is better. Spritastrophe Not consistent enough for a focused strategy but if you're just looking to randomly sling a bunch of powerful spells, Spritastrophe might just be the staff for you. Yod's Purification Kit Another unfocused item but in this case, there are better items to get each of the individual cards/effects. Notable Rares Storge's Proboscis (NVU) Props to @Killer74 for this divine weapon that totally sucks . The best vamp weapons have 4 vamp attacks. Storge's Proboscis has 4 vamp attacks. While I hesitate to stamp it with a B due to how often Wings Of Faith is too weak or even dead, there is no denying that a solid non-legendary vamp weapon is a welcome addition for bloodsucking neophytes. Vampire's Blade is the original cheapo vamp weapon and it has a pair of cycling traits instead of weak cards making it one of the best. However, running too many Loners can be bad for your health. Lifesuck Spear and the epic Draining Dagger are less painful lower rarity weaponss but they're also less vampy at only 3 vamp attacks apiece. The top dogs of vampirism are the legendary Bynser's Black Spear and newcomer legendary Darkforce Nunchaku as well as the aforementioned Vampire's Blade. Superb Evasion (N) Elvish Scamper is the best overall team movement card provided you play elves and whatever you're fighting against isn't. While it may seem like a big risk to play such a situational card, there are some non-obvious factors that make Elvish Scamper perform better than it does on paper. First of all, it's nearly risk free in singleplayer as elven mobs are few and far between. In multiplayer, you will almost never come across elven wizards and support priests. Elf wizards have notoriously low hp and elf priests don't have much to gain from racial skills. You are most likely going to face elf warriors and vamp priests in which case you're not likely going to need the Elvish Scamper to chase down targets anyways. If you do happen to use Elvish Scamper against an elf bearing opponent, keep in mind that you choose where to move first. You'll never be able to get next to an opposing elf if your opponents choose to run away and similarly, you'll never be able to run away if you started your move next to an elf. You'll also want to be careful not to give opponents the opportunity to gang up on your own characters which is best accomplished by keeping your party close together. Elvish Scamper is one of the best reasons to run an all elf party and Superb Evasion is the best way to get it. It's the only item with Radioactive Spray, so wacky singleplayers with money to burn might want to consider it.
I would buy cedrics just because it has cedric in the name, Its one of those things I do. I try to own a set of named items like glasods thighbone, eye and skull. JUST BECAUSE they have glasod in the name
I'm now sad I have no access to a computer until Sunday..... *sigh, grumble* thanksgiving out of town...
