Staff Of The Misanthrope Previously reviewed Advanced Levitation- A must for those who think double Blue Destruction isn't enough. Bahoxl's Maul Ixtli Amulet- Nice soft counter to wizards that isn't dead against melee.
Cudgel Of Wrath Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers Cudgel of Wrath is not bad for a tokenless divine weapon. It just doesn't do things better than other items. If you want a buffing weapon that packs a lot of damage your are better off with Dark Drewg's Mace. If you want a weapon that reduces deck size with trait cycling you are better off with Sacrificial Axe or Vampire's Blade. You get a little of both with Cudgel of Wrath but it isn't worth it to have to deal with Controlled Overswings. Would not purchase. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayers Items like Cudgel of Wrath make priests even deadlier than warriors in the early levels. The discard from Controlled Overswing often doesn't matter if you're one shoting everything in your path. That being said, you can pretty much play your way through the lower levels with a ham sandwich. If you happen to pick one up in your travels by all means play with it. However, buying Cudgel of Wrath to play through lower levels is like purchasing a machete to butter your toast. When you get to higher levels Controlled Overswing becomes less effective, due to higher hp mobs and higher quality blocks, so you're better off with a weapon with more reliable cards. Would not purchase. Substitutes Club Of Wrath (E) Gleaming Glaive St. Amarack's Cudgel- Did someone order a more reliable tokenless divine weapon? I wouldn't buy this one either but I like it much better than the other cudgel for an Altruism priest. Ulalia's Boots- Giving warriors Arcane Aura in quick draw since 2014. Nice way to boost damage if your wizard has an extra token.
With Violent Overswing essentially totally removed from the game (exception being one or two monster decks), I'd love to see Controlled Overswing have its art/name swapped with VO. So same effects of Controlled Overswing, but name and art from Violent Overswing. Best of both worlds.
I'd like to note that dealing with Controlled Overswing is not as bad as it seems on a buff focused priest. If you don't rush your priest until the end of the round, you very rarely wind up in a situation where overswing loses you a card. The build I used in Gnarlvember used one and had a 80% winrate/358 games. Someone even spectated my games that month and built an exact copy of that deck . The only situation where I actually found the overswing drawback penalizing was when I drew two at once and didn't have a card between them. To be fair, I didn't have Dark Drewg's Mace at the time, but I still think the cudgel can be the better item in the right build/playstyle. Plus, the Blind Rage is great, and difficult to get on human priests.
I used 2x Cudgel Of Wrath for the tokenless levels on my first round of drawback quests, as well as some where I needed my tokens for other things. It can be pretty handy, but I wouldn't buy one.
Evasion Previously reviewed Hrillia's Healing Ring- Nice healing item. Hydrogen Staff Lightfoot Robes- Just think, you could have 7 Flanking Moves on your squishy elf wizard. Someone needs to make it happen right now. For science.
Lt. Buckwell's Boots Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers Double Flanking Move boots are very good but Officer's Harness is going to be worse than a third movement card most of the time. Wizards have no way of taking advantage of them by themselves outside of Chain Harness on a Trained Toughness or Leather Harness on Hutul's Robes and Hawlic's Robes, all underutilized items for good reason. An elf warrior with step moves and Elven Maneuvers would benefit from both Flanking Move and less movement cards on boots, but when you are getting hit pure movement cards are the last thing you want to draw. The bottom line is you need a specialized build to want Officer's Harness over a third movement card and if you're going for Officer's Harness synergies you probably want Corian's Boots instead. Would not purchase. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayers Movement is a lot less important in singleplayer but so is having cantrip cards. You aren't going to surprise Gary with a Flanking Move assisted attack out of nowhere. That dude is unflappable. If you need tokenless boots for anything besides chasing down ranged mobs, I would suggest Goat Boots. It has only one useless movement card to draw and an Immovable to get you to your business cards faster. If you really need Flanking Moves then get Mouse Boots. Lt. Buckwell's Boots is slightly better but not 2000 gold better. Would not purchase. Substitutes Mouse Boots (E), Red Jon's Boots (E) Manifold Medic Rusty Healing Armor Shimmerwing Robe
That being said, Officer's Harness is great in conjunction with cards making you discard your oldest card. I'd say this is a solid pair of boots for stabby-stabby warriors and/or wizards in the right build (i.e. coupled with a Savage Curse Priest). YMMV
Illusion Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers Illusory Barrier is obviously best against wizards but if you combine it with enough copies of Telekinesis you can keep melee characters at bay too. Cards like Gusts Of War do not work as well as you can only slide enemy characters back on top of your walls instead of teleporting them back behind them, requiring 2 movements instead of 1 to claw their way back. While Illusion is a very powerful item, it is also high risk. Control wizards usually don't have damaging attacks on their arcane items. By playing Illusion, your wizard cuts back on 5 additional attacks in favor of speed bumps. Should the rest of your team die, you are basically limited to victory point wins, which can be very difficult depending on the map. Illusion is definitely an item that you need to build around and it is not for everyone. If you like running up and smacking people Illusion is not for you. If you like trapping your opponents and laughing maniacally while they squirm around like rats in a maze you might want to spend some more time with your therapist. Also, you'll want to pick Illusion up. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayers Control strategies can be crucial for ensuring victories in quests where you are massively handicapped but it blows for regular play. If your goal is farming items your best bet is to dish out as much damage as you can. Illusory Barrier can help your characters live longer but that shouldn't be your primary goal. Would not purchase. Substitutes None Mageslayer Mail- Shimmering Aura makes it too narrow. Wild Run on divine armor isn't too hot either. Necalli Charm- Significantly worse than Wuuna's Vampiric Shroud and other vamp items. Xipe's Maquah- Decent attacks but most priests want to be vamping or buffing instead. Notable Rares Club Of Devastation- Best way to get Devastating Blows to combo with Elvish Insight. Try Sharp Spetum if Vulnerable is too scary. Crusty Helm- One of the best tokenless helmets. White Halberd- Great for an Altruism fueled draw priest. Whether it's enough better than Aureate Mace is up to you.
I already have 2x Illusion, so I will not be picking up this one -- I just can't imagine being so sadistic as to play a build that required more than one dedicated Illusionary wizard.
Yeah, much appreciated. But I would be even more grateful if you had written even few words on each epic and more interesting rare item on Daily Deals. Good to see comments on legendaries, but they are out of my "wallet" range (and I guess for majority of casual players out there). Rares and epics are items I only consider buying, not legendaries. Any comments on today's rare - White Halberd? Seems interesting.
Nice! - i agree that some people need reviews on rares/epics because of the gold shortage so this is a nice addition
I don't feel like you get quite enough for the tokens... but then again I'm pretty down on most priest weapons so YMMV. I feel other silver priest cards like Mass Frenzy and Impenetrable Nimbus do more for your team than Inspiration does, and since those cards are also generally available at 2x on priest weapons, I think those weapons are better value. I would instead recommend these divine weapons that fit into various takes on a buff priest: Nimbus Blade (E) Duality Mace (U) Huetotl's Firebrand (L) St. Olf's Fiery Pike (E) Interestingly, 3 of these have copies of Fiery Stab, which is quite good for a silver card. Duality Mace is the least solid of the 4 owing to its odd combination of cards that can be difficult to utilize well. It's also the most accessible though, and a budget Impenetrable Nimbus build is easy to assemble due to Shielding Token being a rare.
