Swiss-style *SPEED* Tournament Info / Sign-Up!

Hmm... how many people here are going to be watching Eurovision instead of playing in the tournament? If I get at least 6 people who won't be here due to it I'll consider moving it to the week after. So far we have Jarmo and Lord Feleran ... is anyone else affected by the timing enough to warrant it being moved to the 17th?

 

For non-Eurovision reasons, I can't participate on the 10th. I can most likely play at the same time on the 17th, however.

 

Okay, so we're up to 3. Any others who can't make it the 10th but could at the same time on the 17th?

 

Oh, Stexe, you don't need to count me, I wasn't going to participate in any case. Nothing wrong with the tournament, the format just isn't my bag. I was just offering opinions and information about the Eurovision thing.

 

I can cast at the same time both weekends (and I would guess @CT5 can as well). Let me know ASAP though so we get the right date on the tracker, and so I can plan other things around the actual tournament time. Thanks!

 

Right now it is most likely (80%+) going to stay on the 10th. But I probably won't know for another day or two -- but I'll let you know as soon as I can.

Okay, I'm going to be pushing it to the 17th due to the low number of sign ups. Hopefully with Leagues bringing people back in I'll be able to advertise it for the next week better and get more participants. I really want at least 12 if not 16 to 32.

 

Since it will be ANOTHER week (the 17th) should we just add AotA items or will people feel they won't have enough to be competitively viable?

That's a good thing. Plus leagues are back for those who want some more epic AotA chests.

But what bothers me the most is the speed aspect of the thing. During one game over three i play, I have to refresh the page (vicious DC that you need to notice asap) after the game got stuck by someone playing a Firestorm (and no I never clicked to speed the animation). And this can be very deadly for a 6 minutes game, especially for those with slow connection.

 

Squidy, epic chests won't help you for this tourney. It's the AotA rares people are missing but epic chests won't give you rares: they have mostly commons, uncommons, epics and legendaries.
I don't yet have any copies of Trainee Command nor Diamond Moccasins nor Sacrificial Axe, for example.

Yup, it has been postponed to next week due to the lack of participants.

 

I like the sound of this tournament. No whirls, no Epics and Legendaries... (IE no SPR/Firestorm/Nimble Strike spam)...

 

There are rares with those cards, but yeah, hard to spam and those rares are worse than a lot of uncommons.

 

Okay, I'm taking away the "no expansion items" rule since it is a week later. I assume most people will have a decent number of new rares by then and it shouldn't be too overly dominating?

 

It changed the date to the 17th due to lower number of registered people. Wanted to give more time to advertise it and to get more people to play. It will be the 17th so hopefully more will sign up.

 

Does drawing with Pathfinding or with Elven Maneuvers count as 1 draw?

 

Yes. Anything that "searches" counts as a single draw.
