There's a point to this, but, there's background leading up to it, so, if you wanna skip all of that and go straight to the point, scroll down, until you see "THE POINT".

    Dear Blue Manchu,

2 nights ago, I introduced a longtime friend of mine to CH. He let me watch his progress via Skype while he played through Greenfang's Challenge and each of the 4 Tutorial missions. While I gave him a couple of basic pointers here and there [why that card is red and why that one is green and why that one is white, and what a standard move card is; you know, newbie stuff], he picked up the basic, basic stuff rather quickly.

Fast forward to late last night after the holiday Update came in; he beat The Wizard's Workshop, Caverns Of The Troglodytes, Highway Robbery and Ruby Demon Portal, in that order. The latter 2 had some EXTREMELY close calls in them [including the finishing moments in Highway Robbery's last battle where he finished with 1 Human Warrior left that just happened to have 1 HP, left, and would've went too if Bluk had any cards left], but, he has gone undefeated at this point.

After what he called the "insanity" of Ruby Demon Portal [Imps and a Fire Sprite attacking from long ranges after 8 missions of close-up fighting might surprise a guy], he was about to YT some tips and tricks about how experts play CH. That would've been bad, because I really wanted him to learn how to play this game himself, instead of watching experts on YT showoff [no offense, @CT5]; that's the best way to learn how to build defenses and how to stop yourself getting killed--first-hand experience.

So, I thought fast; I told him, "Why look it up on YT when you can watch ME play, instead?" He was all for it.

Cue the reason for this suggestion; I went through the two missions that he had struggled most with--Highway Robbery and Ruby Demon Portal--with the same team he had [Human Warrior, Human Priest, Dwarf Wizard] with NO ITEMS ON ANY OF MY 3 CHARACTERS. I literally went through each of the 6 battles, while he was watching me via Skype, and I went through almost step by step why I did each move. I put extreme emphasis on planning ahead. Like an expert would do in Checkers or Chess or Tetris or Dr. Mario, they plan ahead to make sure that, at the very least, they limit the chances of the enemy team gaining he upper hand. Watching me, and telling him the things I told him, he told me afterwards that basically learned to stop going gung-ho into every encounter expecting to win; That only gets you killed later on, especially if you don't plan ahead.

    THE POINT:

It's difficult to do some of the early missions with no items at all. If you have just the bare essentials, you will lose if you stand there in front of Bluk and try to trade blows [Highway Robbery]. You will lose if you just haphazardly move in front of enemies that can simply move away and hit you from afar [Ruby Demon Portal]. You will lose if you don't position yourself well enough [Caverns of the Troglodytes]. You will lose if you don't plan ahead, PERIOD, ESPECIALLY with just Cloth Armor and Unreliable Blocks as your main defenses.

Now, I am not saying that The Troll Tryant should have a no items quest. That's cruel and inhumane punishment. But, some of the earlier non-tutorial missions could have this quest for sure. forces a person to think ahead.

    Thank you for reading,
    Mike.

Oh, also, try doing Highway Robbery and Ruby Demon Portal with no items, yourselves. It's fun. Trust me.

Once I was bored with a lot (realy big lot) noob questions from newbies about how to play, how to win, how to lose ;) ... so I created (just for research purposes) alternate acount to see how game looks at the verty beggining.

    And what I saw?

All the questions from these newbies were answered by Garry through the game.

I was able go trough adventures up to Defense of Woodhome in less than 4 hours.
To be honest, I was lucky to got legendary treasure a bought some equipment.

I am used to hear RTFM from geeks. And FM here is really fine :D. Since then I do not answer question, just link to New Player FAQ , Card Hunter Co-op , Comprehensive Card Hunter FAQ and Glossary and Loot Fairy Tracker.

    PS: Nudie run is funny.
