I think ruby slippers could use a Monkey Maneuver. (Replace violent spin for Smashing Spin and you have boots you could actually submit to aa.)

You're right of course. The items I posted are ones I'd personally like because they tell a story or have an interesting mechanic. I'm aware they're not all balanced, but balancing would take away some of the charm. The slippers for instance have three gold cards making them over-powerful, but I feel those cards best describe the classic Oz tale: Beginning the adventure with a violently spinning storm, traveling the land with your team of misfits, and finally clicking the slippers to teleport home.
If I wanted to try winning with Ruby Slippers I'd probably change violent spin to SPIN AROUND, but I don't think including a monster card would be a good idea. Quick Step would work for the loafers, I chose shuffle because the card pictures both feet.

I love ecliptic orb too. I worry it's too strong for an epic, but its awkward mix of roles (cleansing, healing, frenzy) would make it an underwhelming legendary. Thanks for giving them a look, it feels good to get feedback from more experienced designers!

 

Perhaps the first card could be Flatten, because Dorothy drops a house on the witch to get the Ruby Slippers during her entrance to Oz. Wouldn't help the power level at all, though.

Welllll, Smashing Spin is only on Elf Skills at this point. Yeah, submittable, but...
(And on the other hand, sad that such an interesting Elf-only card is so relatively useless. I mean, I've played it, but just because I had a spare left on a smoke wiz, and it came with Slippery...)

(Also, I was originally going to say that "Ruby Slippers" would be unfortunately off-limits -- even Disney needed MGM's permission for Return to Oz (1982) -- but I can't find any definitive information on continuing ownership (without, say, digging through actual registration papers, ugh). Copyright should be done now (iirc), but trademark works differently... Anyway! $:^ P )

How would a cycling, purgeable trait be less powerful than a card that takes up space in your hand?

 

I thought of this for the current AA, but I suspect there's a rule that arcane items need at least one attack or utility card...
