Then again, maybe it SHOULD trigger off impaler as well?

That would move Impaler up to silver or above quality...possibly considered must-have/OP. A simple reword of the card's text would be a much better fix, imo. ;)

Well, it depends really. Impaler applies to cards with the penetrating token. So if you're under the effect of Frenzy Aura:

    - Impaler SHOULD apply, because the aura applies penetrating to the attack card you're playing.
    or
    - Impaler SHOULD NOT apply, cause the penetrsting effect comes from a different card, not the attack one itself.

Ultimately, it's up to the devs. Not sure if they've thought about this specific case and opted for the latter case cause of balance reasons or w/e.

In my first play through I tended to go with Impaler nearly all the time too (especially since it was originally overtuned in the beta to give you +2). But this time I'm also discovering the advantages of Bash with its ability to move enemies away. It can be defensive (e.g. on a wizard's staff) or it can be used tactically to knock them off victory squares or into lava.

In I find all 3 categories are equally viable. It's great you can pick the type of attack which best suits your strat without feeling like you're using a sub-par build.

(edited some stuff out cause I wasn't sure what I said made sense xD)

Also, I guess the fact the latest Video Diary (the one with Lance) featured it kind of adds to the popularity of the the strat.

No, because Impaler only triggers on Melee. So it won't trigger on Boiling Armor or War Cry.

I can see it going either way. In fact, I wonder if Impaler didn't trigger because it was checked before Frenzy Aura added the Penetrating. There was a recent dev post explaining which is checked first: char attachments or cards in hand (but I don't remember the details).
