I was playing a multiplayer game recently, and my opponent laid down a wall of stone. I used cleansing presence, which clears all terrain attachments. thinking that would clear it. It did not. Wall of stone appears to me to be a terrain attachment, so I'm confused. Can someone clarify? Thanks.
Wall of Stone is the only terrain attachment which cannot be cleansed. Yes, its intended to be somewhat powerful. http://forums.cardhunter.com/threads/cleansing-burst-vs-wall-of-stone.2027/#post-22678
Even though you would think it's removable, the tricky part is that Wall of Stone blocks line of effect to its own square, so it can't be targetted or affected by areas. Being blocking terrain and all. It makes sense from a rules standpoint even though it's not intuitive at first.
Thanks everyone for the quick replies. Both my opponent and I were confused, and that clears it up. It still seems weird, but at least I understand it. BTW, I did a search of the forum for similar terms and that previous thread didn't show up.
I also think it's pretty confusing. And even if it does block line-of-sight to itself, that shouldn't matter with things like Cleansing Burst, because that cleanse can be cast on an adjacent square and then 'burst' onto the wall - so it doesn't need line-of-sight on the wall itself. In my opinion, if Wall Of Stone is meant to be uncleansable - it should say so on the card.
But that doesn't work for a fireball so why should it work for a clense? Blocking terrain blocks aoe and line of sight. It could still be made clearer that it can't be interacted with i agree just clearing stuff up about targeting burst.
I think the problem is Wall of Stone is a terrain attachment that becomes blocking terrain. Terrain attachments and blocking terrain have different rules, so a decision had to be made about which one it behaves like. The designers chose to treat it like blocking terrain. I think I might have made a different choice, but their choice is perfectly valid.
But it says it's a Terrain Attachment. Cleansing Burst says it clears Terrain Attachments. Ergo, Wall of Stone should get cleansed. Something needs to be done one way or another so there is absolutely no confusion.
