I've returned to Card Hunter after being away for more than a year. While collecting loot from campaign missions, multiplayer chests, and league rewards I've occasionally thought "hmm. that item is marked as new, but I thought I had that already." Until now, I always just put it down to me misremembering, or seeing a new item that was very similar to one that I already had. But now I'm near certain that I'm missing some items. I just got Superb Stoutness from a tournament chest, and it is marked as new - and indeed, I apparently don't have any of them in my inventory or on any of my characters. But I'm sure that I've used that item in the past. I distinctly remember using builds with 2 Duck cards; and yet my current inventory doesn't have any such trait items at all. I never sell any items. So I'm sure that I didn't lose the item from selling it. And like I said, I'm pretty sure there have been a much of other items lost too. What could have happened to make me lose items? One of the main reasons I stopped playing a year ago was that the inventory screen had become frustratingly slow because my inventory was huge. That problem seems to have been fixed while I was away, but it makes me wonder if I could have lost items due to some kind of database overflow or something like that. Anyway, whatever has happened, it was probably a long time ago now. So there probably isn't much that can be done about it. But I'm still curious as to what might have caused missing items.
The fix to the deck builder screen shouldn't have had any impact on your actual collection - it was a client side fix only. We're unaware of any "overflow" or anything else that should have caused you to lose items. The only issue we are aware of is that item transfers sometimes fail. However, if you were using an item in the past, you definitely had it in your collection and so it should still be there. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be if you haven't sold it. Not much help, sorry.
I just did some forum searches for me posting about "superb stoutness" and team builds to see if I could confirm that I had that item. I did confirm that I had that item, but I think I've also worked out why I'm missing stuff... The mostly likely explanation is that I'm remembering items from before the final beta reset, when all accounts were reset to having no items. Here's the quote that gives it away: So that explains that item; and the same thing probably applies to the other items that I thought I had. Mystery solved, I guess.
