So, I seem to have messed up everything slightly. First, when Gary was still telling me to go to Ommlet, I went into "multiplayer" just to test out the buttons. When I came back to the map, he was silent. I also quit to have dinner, came back, logged in, and found he remained silent both on the map and during the first fight in Ommlet (I presume there was supposed to be tutorial text). Sure, I subsequently got the text from the second fight . . . but this somehow came after completing it. I won, then picked up the gem on the loot screen, then put it back into the treasure chest, and then was given the humorous text about returning the herring (ahem: wrong text, this was the gem and not the herring). THEN all the text about minions appeared one after another, separated by mouse clicks as though I were in the tutorial on the loot screen. No problems with tutorial text since then.
