I'm revisiting this level now, with a different party, levels 14 to 17. Frankly, when you designed this level you were bat**** crazy. The ****ing dog kills a DWARF in ONE TURN. Nothing you can do. Can't run away, because he's got 517 attacks with moves (vicious thrust, etc.), armor is useless, heal is pointless if he does twice as much damage as you can heal, this is just pure insanity. The ****ing dog is a god and this level is pure suck. Quite honestly, if this had been the 1st adventure in card hunter, I would've dropped the game right there and then and never touched it again.
I understand what you're going through, Tom. I had a very hard time with the same level. I actually had to keep notes to get through the entire adventure because I couldn't remember which part was which. But that's beside the point. After struggling as much as you I eventually did beat it and it felt glorious. It wasn't so much the deck building part but the tactics I took. I completely ignored the mercenaries to the point where I only attacked them if I couldn't attack the dog. I killed the dog first because you're right. That dog is a beast and I hate dogs now because of this one particular dog. It's not that he 1 shots your character, it's the fact that he can act multiple times a turn so he does kill one of your characters if you can't kill him. I remember one time I thought I was golden because I killed 2 mercenaries in the first turn. Then the dog killed my wizard and almost killed my priest in round 2. So from that I took it to mean that if I get the same kind of opening hand, I should use it on the dog. Kill it first round or darn close and then on the next round kill a mercenary. In the end I only had one character to kill Lord Batford because he ducked and took a Impaling Stab from my priest and then killed her with it. Yeah, it's very rough. You'll do it eventually. Edit: spelling errors
Try doing it on the "no party death" setting. I spent about 120 gold last night before I got the final lucky first draw of impenetrable nimbus + firestorm + ember bursts to whittle away everyone so I could do it. I'd like to hear of someone who beat that on the 1 hp setting.
Hey Tom, I understand your frustration; some of these levels are very difficult, that is true. And a lot of the people here who've progressed beyond them have a lot of wisdom to pass along to those of us who've yet to beat them (me included, honestly). But *please* check the outright swearing and vitriol as everyone is only trying to help out. Thanks!
