Oh well the loot tracker was looking a little strange but I guess that confirms it is at Black Plume ........ I'm inclined to let the dragon keep the loot.
I dunno second battle has always been the easiest for me, first is a little annoying but the dragon is pure luck
You need to switch equipment for the 2nd battle, that's something very rare in SP. And even with all these Nimbuses the battle still takes many minutes.
Once again about a dozen tries before the dragon went down. I don't like him at all. I did all of the battles with the same equipment, geared for the dragon. The first two were no problem, just took a little time. UURE(E) @ Black Plume Mountain Aegis Of The Defender, St. Oliander's Tome
Interesting, I've never even lost a character at the Dragon. Killed him about 4 times now. Parrying Buckler and some big attacks will do.
My main problem is I dont have suitable level 20 characters and I'm not going to level up new ones just for him. I'm doing the adventure with two dwarves, a priest and a wizard, and a human warrior. Makes the battle a little more "interesting".
I actually find the 2nd battle moderately easy. The fact the totems don't move is the first thing to be used at your advantage. Ofc you need to pay very attention to Maze of the Mind and prepare accordingly. My general strat involves a decent amount of Missile Blocks + stab attacks and burst attacks (if you go mages). Your obgective should be taking one enemy down at a time, while minimizing risk of one of your chars going down. You can also make things much easier by bringing a couple WWE and firing those at the most convenient time. The totems are usually on Immovable, but you can safely WW one out of a VP and (hopefully) in a favorable position. All in all, that map is more of a puzzle than a fierce battle to be taken face-to-face
Uh oh, I've never even attempted Secret of the Elder Mind before, and now I have less than 9 hours to beat that and the dragon. And if I fail, I'll know that I lost my best chance at a Vibrant Pain.
I find the 2nd battle extremely easy. Volcano or even 2 FS easily do the trick. Im. Nimbus isn't really helpful here or with the dragon. Once the statue is gone, the bull can be easily taken down. Baiting Maze of the mind is simple by moving whoever have the most move cards first. You don't even need to contest victory square at all until the bull decided to run for it. The dragon I consider it harder since his perfect block/toughness are more prone to luck of the draw. His attack isn't crazy high and a dwarf can tank it. A mistake in positioning, however, can leave your dwarf team stationary, perm frozen until someone start to die.
Yeah, I wasn't running any wizards and without them the 2nd battle is dumb. Next time the fairy visits that Black Mountain I will reconsider my party setup Edit: actually I can do it after the Randimar's reset right away
UURE (R) Advanced Command The best way to do this imo is going with a 1-1-1 team, so you have more versatility for the very different levels of this module. The first one: nimbus and mf, step attacks, some FS if you want The second one: FS and Volcano is the way to go here. You can kill the other two with your warrior later The third one: Maximize Nimbus (10), consistent weapons with warrior (like BSS). The wiz can do different things, I suggest going with card removal, armor removal and some Mighty Sparks and/or Punishing Bolts to help with the damage. War Cry is pretty useful here too, for all of your characters.
(g)RRRRR Used a 1/1/1 team. Beating the dragon took several tries. Had to spam Nimbus and use sundering strike / boiling armor.
for me the hardest mission is the first. i use 1-1-1. fs-inspiring presenc on the first 2. the dragon i use 4 mirrors of melting, tons of punish strike, nimbus, 3aoa and big atks
I managed to tackle it with two elven mages and a human priest (I never leveled up any dwarves), but it wasn't easy. I have the Meztis Wyrmhide Robes, and they helped a lot in the last fight. Since I firestormed on the way there, I still had reliable mails on my team. I nailed the artifact weapon early on with a couple of punishing bolts and finished him with a spark. His glass jaw and high damage attacks make him the first kill. Then I staved off the dragon with Wall Of Stone, Elven Trickery, and just freezing himself from the Wyrmhide swapping. My armor meant I could take my sweet time finishing him off while my priest healed a bit and stepped up at the end with some Mighty Bludgeons and Shredding Strikes (Healing Hand Mace x2). This is the worst SP mission as regards changing your equips drastically for each fight. Be prepared to adapt (and pay 15gp a few times).
Just beat maps 1 & 2 without changing equips, then lost my first attempt at the dragon. Will try again later.
I haven't gone up to Black Plume Mountain yet - I have to actually get to it first. The level 18 quests are hard!
