I was using all of my dots when I hit 15. I got the "You got a talent" sparkle, but got no talent. I tried to replace a dot weapon with a dot+square weapon and couldn't. Luckily both fighters hit 15 at the same time, so I could try it again. 1) The sparkle is just a C bug from having all dots in use at the time 2) You don't gain a square, a dot turns in to a square. Not a bug. 3) But, the square picks a random dot to convert, and it doesn't know to reposition itself until you click an item slot. You can see I should be able to equip the copper axe. Slicing only needs a dot, so I have a dot and a square. Basically the actual bug is: a square has to check if it can swap with an unused dot on every state change. As soon as I drag a dot sword in to my third (?) hand, the square does know to jump off.
