Hey, so @Sir Veza suggested I create a thread discussing item design. I'll try to give some generalized insights into what makes an item design good and work well from my opinion. This is generally designed around CENSORED ITEM CREATION CONTEST NAME. Remember, do NOT post your potential item submissions or questions that might impact your actual item submission or basically any question actually relating to item design that might potentially be a submission because that's against the (*FORMER*) "rules"! Anyway... Items should contain cards that suit the specific item type. General No more than 1 trait per 3 cards total (exception Race / Class Slot Items, Crazy Sal's Halberd, Tome Of The Withering Source, Sticky Slippers) Weapons Must contain at least 3 melee attack cards (exception Axe Of Evasion) No more than 3 blocks (e.g. Blocking Mace) No magic cards (exception Flametouched Spear) Heavy Armor Must contain at least two cards with the "Armor" keyword No more than 1 attack card No block cards and no magic cards (except Force Field) Helmet Must contain at least 1 armor card (exception Fool's Coif) No magic cards (except Force Field) (exception Kathon's Steel Helmet) No blocks (except Lifesaving Block) (exception Kathon's Steel Helmet) Martial Skill Must contain a Warrior specific trait (Crusher, Bruiser, Impaler, Slicer) Divine Weapon (lots of weird exceptions with the new expansion unless you consider Genetic Engineering and Gene Therapy a holy card) Must contain a holy or unholy card (exception Kreevian Radcannon, Radhammer, Therapeutic Laser Baton)) Must contain a melee attack (or melee attack through Push The Button) (exception Cursed Radcannon, Kreevian Radcannon) Divine Armor Must contain at least 1 armor card (exception Geneticist's Spacesuit) Most contain at least 1 holy or unholy card, but it is not a requirement (lots of weird exceptions here) No block cards (except Lifesaving Block) Divine Item Must contain at least 1 holy or unholy card (exception Oquith's Choking Incense, Oak Roots, Glowing Gland, St. Yatzie's Genetic Console) No blocks (except Cause Fumble) Divine Skill Must contain a Priest specific trait (Healing Spirit, Holy Presence, Talented Healer, Altruism) Must contain at least 1 holy or unholy card, unless all cards are traits Staff Must contain at least 3 cards with the Magic keyword type (or magic card through Pull The Trigger) At most 2 blocks (exception Reflecting Staff) No more than 3 melee attack cards No movement cards other than Step attacks, Surging Shield Block, and Reflexive Teleport Robe Must contain at least 1 armor card or Force Field card No armor cards that prevent more than 2 damage and contain the Keep keyword (exception Shimmering Aura) No melee attack cards No blocks (exception Forcefield Robes) Arcane Item No melee attack cards No block cards (exception Counterspell) Must contain at least 1 magic card (currently no magic cards with the Electric keyword) No movement cards except Reflexive Teleport and Teleport Self Arcane Skill Must contain a Wizard specific trait (Spark Generator, Spark Inductor, Kindler, Hover, Firestarter, Dimensional Traveller, Hot Flames) No melee attack cards No block cards No movement cards except Step Magic cards, Reflexive Teleport, and Teleport Self WORK IN PROGRESS (I'll re-organize the list later).
