For those who do, do it well. Spoiler: Links to the rest (Now with brief Overview!) http://forums.cardhunter.com/thread...t-thinking-of-decks-and-not-all-at-once.6336/ -- The basics of not being a complete tool if you want to play- To simplify you should try following some deck building examples and apply the notion of balance in control/disrupt/attack. http://forums.cardhunter.com/threads/second-stage-the-guide-and-the-d.6387/ -- More indepthly discusses how one deck is effective against another type of deck, and the expectation of playstyle from your chosen cards and vice versa. http://forums.cardhunter.com/threads/episode-iii-revenge-of-the-guide.6456/ -- Is more of a question on your behalf about balancing, gives a brief history on how meta switches up with each significant update to the game. And so, without further-a-whatnot, here's another guide I know you've all been craving to laugh at! Card quality is truly in your Mind, Baby! See, there's a little bit of obsession about whether a card is of paper quality, or more or less. (http://forums.cardhunter.com/threads/feedback-cards-with-an-over-underrated-card-quality.2892/ is just one example of this). It's the point of where experienced players say, you know, dodge! Damn that dodge make's me rage so hard, I'm-a going to purr (@neoncat)! All in the mind, Baby! It's like chewing chocolate and expecting it to taste like bubblegum. If say you are really really bothered by a particular play, either think 'can't beat 'em, join 'em' or counter somehow. 'dodge this, bub!' But I digress; really you can see the complaint here. Dodge is copper, whereas cone of cold is a silver. Since dodge is usually held in hand, and can only be perplexed out of a hand (an effect that can be DODGED easier than pesky cone effects), it becomes more of a formidable card. Dislike or like these things, the argument is one of symantics, you can't change the effect in-game right now. It's only true relevence to card-worth comes from poor AI management, which would most likely discard that dodge for the cone if put in a position where it could not play the latter. Item is just a thing, Baby! Now that I've *tried* to explain the notion of worthy cards as apposed to ones you choose to be unworthy, we can discuss deck building in the deck building forum section! In any card-orientated game that is not of a 52 standard deck format, the most fun you can have is by weighting all your aces. In cardhuntria-ia there's a few easy slip-ups. One simple thing is forgetting what you intend your build to be about... Spoiler: Tseirp, Baby! Tseirp Level 20 Dwarf Priest White Halberd White Halberd Cleansing Hide Armor Streaked Shield Goat Boots Amulet Of Inspiration Amulet Of Inspiration Amulet Of Inspiration Apprentice Ferocity Focused Piety 2 x Weak Chop 1 x Reliable Hide Armor 1 x Weakened Armor 3 x Altruism 1 x Hit The Deck 13 x Inspiration 2 x Draining Touch 1 x Lifesaving Block 2 x Cleansing Ray 2 x Blind Rage 1 x Desperate Block 1 x Fright 4 x Polearm Slash 1 x Immovable 1 x Dangerous Maneuver Wowza's! I love my lil' inspiration buddy loads! 13- yes; 13 inspires and 10 cards that trait cycle or can be used to that degree. That's 23 cards out of 36 dedicated to the perfect drawing machine (which if you can't tell, and I know it's hard, so bare with me-- Is the true intention here!). When I try to mimic someone else's deck without copying the overall thing I would break it down in notepad like so- Attack - 8 Attack/Step - 0* Move - 1 Armor - 2 Block - 3 Magic Defense/Cycle - 15* Magic Attack -0* Trait - 7 Total - 36. *Created extra titles to accomadate for unusual/hybrid type of cards. This way I focus on the balance between attack/move/cycle, which are more principle in-game then, say, using alot of random cards. Also helps you to think of the overall picture, rather than adding some seemingly disparate item. It's obvious that this Tseirp appears to be backwards. We have deck limits now (making this all slightly OTT), and really I want to remove some of the dull cards like weak chop. Also, despite it not being the greatest thing to consider, he's wasting 2 gold token's for blue. I may want to look into that. Spoiler: Priest, Baby! Priest Level 20 Dwarf Priest White Halberd Nanahut's Morningstar Cleansing Hide Armor Hexagon Shield Sliding Boots Demon Charm Of The 7th Circle Skull Of Savage Iljin Demon Charm Of The 7th Circle Apprentice Ferocity Focused Piety 1 x Weak Chop 1 x Reliable Hide Armor 2 x Savage Curse 1 x Inspiring Presence 2 x Polearm Slash 1 x Team Run 3 x Altruism 1 x Sparkling Cloth Armor 2 x Unholy Wellspring 1 x Surging Shield Block 4 x Cleansing Ray 2 x Bad Luck 2 x Spear Of Darkness 2 x Demonic Power 1 x Draining Touch 2 x Pushback Parry 2 x Inspiration 2 x Blind Rage 2 x Punishing Strike 1 x Flanking Move 1 x Desperate Block That's a pretty large leap from before, but with much more usefulness. Whilst being on the sidelines, still has a better-than-average ability to cycle, which was the overall goal but now can use this effectively with Savage curse's and Unholy wellspring. If things get heated, he can even retreat the whole team with team run. Although there are a few poor cards, the truth is some of these can be very good in specific situations. Bad luck is a classic for being bad-ish, but not really. Either it reduces dice roles or it can defeat a block all by itself. That's actually very good, mind, I wouldn't say no for more damage buffering instead . Like a stick of lightning, Baby! The synergy in a deck comes from how you want to cut it. Firstly and foremostly, think on attack/move/aggro(disrupt/control) and how much you want or need. Second to this is the tactics behind your in-game strategy. That's where you more consider, how many wellsprings do I need? Will more cycle make up the difference? Do I want to include more than two types of playstyle in one guy, like inspire, buff, and heal? Would that effect the likelyhood of cards I may need at turn 1, to cards I desperately need at turn 2? The never-ending Dandy, Baby! That about wraps it all up for this guide, I hope you found it more useful, but I left one tiny little thread that I think neoncat may appreciate...
