[Feedback] State of farming after balance patch (2.39.0+)

    I wonder how long it would be if FS was increased to range 6. From my experience there's a huge difference between 5 and 6 on the structure of the maps.

    Also, Flax said that they are going to be looking at economy changes. I could definitely see tweaks to sale values helping.

    6 would be basicly the same as global when farming The White Star (and not Diamonds of the Kobolds) ;)

    Except you have to move up and center, which opens you to attacks.
    The real problems are some of the higher levels which were difficult before the nerf. Range 5 is pretty much impossible, but range 6 might be just very difficult.

    What opens up to attacks?? Map would be cleared on the 1st turn and they won't reach the player on the 1st turn.

    Anyway, a suggestion:
    Either a) increase the range of FS to 6
    or b) increase pizza to gold trading ratio to 10
    or c) decrease the price of legendaries to 2000.

    Buying legendary items is simply too difficult now. :( Even when Randimar's usually had 0..3 L per week, there were only few players who had more gold than they could spend.

    Two or three months ago i farmed Kobolds just for fun to see how much gold it brings. In the seven hours i farmed i got 2800 gold which makes 400 gold per hour.
    To see how it changed i farmed now four hour. In the first two i got again 400 on average but the last session glitched a bit and i made 1200 in those two hours.
    I only had one such glitch in the pre patch sessions and seven or in the current case four hours are not really representive but i am pretty sure there is no change in farming, at least for me.
    I use two wizards and one priest and i only farm The White Star because it requires minimal positioning and you hit all mobs with fs.
    In the first part you need to wait for round two, in the second you can hit them in round one.

    Could you add some more data? I've never farmed so extensively, but from what I read at the forums 2800 gold for seven hours seems a bit low. Did you have a good FS team? Did you have the club memebership?

    No club, so you could add 50%-60% to those numbers for club members. As for my team, it is not too fancy, 1 Wym's, 2 Magma Scepter, 1 Skull of Iljin. The rest is filled with Inferno Staffs and the usual tokenless rare fs items.

    My question would be, how much has your collection improved in those 2-3 months? That could have increased your farming efficiency enough to counter the FS change.

    Tonight I did a level 1-5 run for the first time since the balance changes, used to take 25 minutes, was probably around 40 tonight.

    I used the same build. But as i mentioned, i only repeat The White Star and on that adventure the range almost does not matter.

    Why not 'a' and 'b'? I see that as definitely a viable option. Heck, maybe all 3.

    If you always draw at least 3 FS on the first turn, that works. Most players don't.
    :confused: What really made buying legendaries difficult was that there were usually none for sale. Some people had better luck with the RNG, but many of us farmed almost all of ours, and squandered tens of thousands buying brown chests because there was nothing else to do with the gold. Most of my farming was for items, but selling thousands of excess items and a low proportion of treasure also brings in gold.
    If by "too difficult" you mean not being able to farm enough in a week to keep up with Randimar's offerings, you're absolutely right. I can't afford to buy everything I'd like in any store I walk into, so I'm used to it.
    I'm guessing Firestorming kobolds isn't on your list. ;)
    I've also been thinking about this issue. Improving the pizza to gold exchange rate seems like a good idea. I think item resale is another area to look at. The rate progresses from 1/5 to 1/25 as rarity increases. I think a straight 1/10 would work better, adjusted slightly for the two lowest classes. The scarcity of epic and legendary drops makes the resell price pretty underwhelming.

    1/10 is a lower resell rate than I'm used to seeing, but I don't play many of the newer games.

    MP vs. SP rewards has recieved quite a bit of comment. MP offers higher rarity rewards (gold and purple chests), but since the games tend to take longer and only the winner gets a chest, equivalent time and effort usually generates less wealth. Players should win about half their games under the elo system, so awarding "X" amount of gold per win in ranked play might narrow the gap a bit. It shouldn't need to be a huge amount, because running campaign adventures doesn't net a heck of a lot per chest either. I wouldn't apply it to leagues, because they already have the richest payoff in the game.

    Just my musings, which may or may not match anything the devs are going to do.

    Hmmm, does this include the possibility of getting a certain level 30 treasure for one's collection? :D
    Maybe as a prize to anyone who has all the legendary treasures in the game since that is an impressive feat as they can't be bought. (Just to be clear, I do not have all the legendaries... yet!)

    Random tidbit, Diablo 3 currently has a 1/25 for potions and dyes, but they are going to be patching that to a 1/500 for potions and a 1/buyvalue for dyes, because goldfarmers were turning their single player game into an almost sorta multiplayer game with it. ~_~

    DnD 3.5 uses half. Hearthstone's dust is basically 1/4.

    How about selling it in the Christmas store? (Yes, I realize Halloween comes sooner. The White Star just strikes me as more Christmassy.)
    Edit: Limit availability to boys and girls of good standing, if you wish. Santa knows what time it is.

    With the urge to get gold for Randimar's I've been doing my excess item's sale weekly instead of monthly. But now, if resell price is going to increase, I don't know what to do. I know you can't ensure anything, but may I want to hold them for a bit longer?

    Haha, I did the same on the first week after Randimar's changed... I don't regret it though, I was bankrupt at that moment (well, I always feel like that with the new Randimar's :p).
