Most of the time I'd prefer to play a swords and sorcery match so seeing these sci fi elements in many games removes some of the fun. Have a checkbox when looking for a match partner that denotes whether sci fi items are allowed (I guess these are from one of the expansions?).
As per Magic the Gathering, limited formats?.... the "sci-fi" stuff is all from EttSC. It wouldn't be a horrible idea to have, possibly, a league based on solely one set (basic only, AotA, etc) but I don't know if it's something that would get implemented any time soon.
