I noticed there's room in the starter shop for one more starter party, and wouldn't it be a great idea to showcase the new items by building an entire party from them? I have no idea if the devs would want to do this, but I figured it would be fun to brainstorm some ideas anyway. Rules: Only use AotA items No duplicate items Nothing rarer than Rare Final party should be roughly as pathetic good as the existing parties Each existing starter party has: 11-14 Commons 9-14 Uncommons 6 Rares To get the most variety in items we should use all the classes. For races we could go all Elves, or we can have one of each. Elf War and Dwa Wiz are not currently available in starter parties, so we can add a Hum Pri for a nice balanced 25 health party. Ack, I misremembered the rarities of the dwarf skills and they're actually Epic and Legendary, so no Dwa Wiz. (The rules I made prevent having more than one Human or Dwarf.) I guess I'll go with all Elves then. I'm just starting to put something together, but I'd also like to see what other people can come up with.
Yep, working on it. Love to see your ideas. If I get time, I'm planning to revise the existing starters too.
Still looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Here's what I have so far: Arrimee Level 20 Elf Wizard Staff Of The Fire God Forgefire Staff Locket Of The Gale Wand Of Seared Air Fireblast Torch Bracelet Of Elements Green Hide Robe Possessed Shoes Cautious Trickery Varied Combustion Finmaan Level 7 Elf Warrior Colossal Hammer Warrior's Mace Sharp Spetum Tough Hide Shirt Hexagon Shield Gouging Helm Heavy Hide Boots Cautious Mobility Trained Crushing Halthilden Level 1 Elf Priest Whiteglow Flail Shadowleaf Maquah Armor Of Tlacoa Twisting Shield Skipping Boots Medallion Of St. Vigus Whiteglass Token Saint's Tooth Cautious Trickery Enlightened Devotion I broke some of your rules and, indeed, our old rules, as I want to make Starter Packs more worthwhile. In particular, I've put one Epic item on each character as well as 2-3 Rares. I've used a lot of AotA items but not all and I've tried to use generally more useful items than we might have used in past starters. Interested in any feedback on this build. It's not optimal, but I figure it will be more competitive than previous Starters.
Didn't look up what those AotA items are but even Whiteglow Flail alone for 50 pizza should be good for everyone who doesn't own it yet. Then again treasure hunts also give everyone an epic they know they are going to get before.
Fantastic starter party Jon! Looks way better than the old ones, and I like your choices a lot in terms of getting items into players' hands. Are you going to be buffing the old ones?
Whiteglow Flail, Twisting Shield (best shield in the game!), and Staff of the Fire God (2x Fireball!) make this a tremendous value, imo. Certainly, it's a higher peak equipment quality than the other starter sets, which is the only reason an experienced player would buy the starter sets.
Nice. It's not P2W, but it's a better value for one's pizza. I could never see the point of the current starter sets over grinding SP for gear and getting characters for 10 gp at the tavern.
I was worried that including a Twisting Shield would make my suggested party too good, and I wouldn't have dreamed of including Whiteglow Flail or Staff Of The Fire God (even if they didn't break my rules). I likely would have had a Trained Crushing, Heavy Hide Boots, and Cautious Trickery.
