A friend of mine, active in the Bay Area tabletop dev scene, is trying to pull together a cool event for the first weekend in October: a Board Game Arcade, where you pay to get in and then you play games for tickets that you'll be able to exchange for prizes. Note that if he doesn't reach the Kickstarter goal, he won't have enough money to rent the space, and the event will either be downgraded to match another location or not happen at all.
