Aloyzo's Arsenal Discussion Thread

Seeing as there is no mechanic in the game that cares about the name of a card, as far as I see it, any two cards that are identical in every respect save their name are effectively two identical cards. Thus, I would not be not too worried about violating the spirit of the rule about only including one monster card, as players already have access to a card that is functionally identical to Lunging Bite.

 

This AA officially has more submissions than the first 2!

 

@Flaxative : Where is the appropriate place for suggesting a Flavor Text for a card without one? There's some cards still without that flavorful text we all love!

 

Anyone gonna use Brainhook, could be interesting.

Bronzantium Plates? Wrong card quality.

Speaking of, @Flaxative, are you willing to change card quality for a monster card in this AA?

 

If you read what he has written, you would find out that he doesnt want to do that.

I think Bronzantium Plates doesn't even come close as being the most wrongly valued monster-only card. It will trigger 1/3 of the time, so the average damage prevention is 1.66... The current quality gap between Bronzantium Plates and Enchanted Mail is quite big, but I'm not sure Bronzantium Plates needs a quality upgrade.

I kinda wish I could get Wall of Stone on a staff/arcane item. Anybody else think of how to use that?

 

Don't try and nobody gets hurt. Just kidding, but really wall of stone doesn't work like regular terrain attachments.

 

If it could be cleansed/replaced and had duration 1 and was Gold quality, I think it would be fairly balanced. But 2 round indestructible walls were ridiculous for a Silver.

 

Wall of Stone was replaced with flash flood on all items a while back as it broke certain leagues

 

What about Pillar of Stone, then? >.>

I just realized that the monster cards on items that get selected this month are going to show up in quick draw. This may be my favorite part of this month's contest.

 

Yeah I knew about that @BlackVoidDeath. But what about the whole Lunging Bite=Lunging Thrust thing? If an item with Lunging Bite is selected for inclusion in the game, would Lunging Bite be upgraded from paper to bronze? I see many good submissions whose monster cards' qualities need to be changed imo (the way Accelerate Time was). Are these submissions not going to be selected because they need to change a card's quality?

I can't say for sure. It really depends on the field and on whether or not any tweaks by Aloyzo are 'worth doing'. If there are 5 really strong designs that don't require any modifications, they are probably going to win out. That said if there is an item that bends the rules slightly or needs some modifications to truly shine, it may happen. I did state explicitly that there is no instant disqualification. Sorry to give you a vague answer but please understand that I don't want my evaluation of this contest to include the extra calculus of figuring out whether a slew of quality regradings is worth doing.
