About the same time as I coveted Firehide Robes...although I dropped 4 or 5 in the few months after my first!
Bleneth's Frenzy Medallion Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers This is the best minor token source of Mass Frenzy for a melee team. The only other comparable item is Bleneth's Frenzy Tome but I really don't like putting Savage Curse on characters that have a lot of armor and blocks that they will want to hold on to. You won't find a better deal on Mass Frenzy with shady characters like St. Hongjin or Dworia. Even the venerable St. Olf gives you a 1 to 1 deal on minor tokens and Mass Frenzy. When you want the best of the best, always choose Bleneth for all your foaming at the mouth needs. Highly recommend purchasing. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayers Anything with Bleneth on it is worth picking up. Requiring only a minor token makes Bleneth's Frenzy Medallion more usable than the all powerful Bleneth's Skull. A lot of farming parties rely on casting Mass Frenzy as quickly as possible and there is no better way than to shove a bunch into your deck. If you're worried about drawing redundant copies if you put too much Mass Frenzy in your deck you can gripe about it to all the dead mobs at your feet. Highly recommend purchasing. Substitutes None Lum's Moccasins- While it's nice to be able to ditch your moves for a new card when you don't need them, Escaping Run ends up being Run more often than not. There are way more powerful things you could be doing with that token. Robes Of The Crab- Wingtip Robes is cheaper and better. Not that I'd play those either. Tariel's Diadem- Magic discard is poop. Notable Rares Black Token- Impenetrable Nimbus and Savage Curse are highly sought after cards. Touch Of Death isn't but you can usually cash it in for at least 6 damage.
This is too quick and definitive a statement I feel. The great thing about Savage Curse is you can choose when and on which character to put it. In the right situation, armor makes for great discard! Anyway, the medallion is a great item and shouldn't be skipped, as long as you're interested into playing priests at all.
I have one copy of Bleneth's Skull and there is another Skull in my Randimar this week along with the Bleneth's Frenzy Medallion in the Daily Deal. Do you guys believe i should buy any of those two or both?
Buy both. You can never have too many Mass Frenzies if you play the priest + two warriors combo at all. As long you can fit them on a single priest, always get more Bleneth's. Gah! Can the DD have garbage for a little while? For weeks on end there was nothing at all I wanted, now I'm missing good buys because it just keeps landing winners day after day.
St. Quaith's Armor. It combines the properties I like about Rusty Healing Mail and Armor Of Negation with the benefits of neither. Pass.
In PvE too many MF is inefficient. My statements only apply to PvP (for the most part, I find that basically any build can handle any SP scenario with good play, so my comments on what's good or important are always PvP-focused).
Hah, I remember when I was running 9 Mass Frenzy and everyone said I was crazy. ...They were right, of course. But that doesn't mean that running excessive Mass Frenzy isn't more effective sometimes.
Now that's a nice amount of Mass Frenzy! No matter how hard the enemy priests try to purge your guys or how many fire or other attachments their wizards spam you can always rely on having Mass Frenzy on your guys. That's a good, secure feeling.
St. Qaith's Armor Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers There are currently too few attachments that see play to consider running Arrogant Armor, especially on a priest. Burning attachments already get hosed by armor in general and everything else isn't very popular. The other usage of Arrogant Armor is to shed harmful traits like Vulnerable for harmless card cycling but what are you planning on cycling to? Most of the time, the answer is buffs in which case you are down a character to use them on. For those looking to cycle to vamp attacks, you're missing out on not only buffs but also access to Talented Healer. If for some reason you still want Arrogant Armor there are plenty of divine armors that have 2 copies. St. Qaith's Armor gives you an effect that isn't useful enough to play and doesn't do it as well as other items. Would not purchase. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayer There's only one module with enough attachments that you might want something like Arrogant Armor and that's Secret of the Elder Mind. Even then, you will want one of the double Arrogant Armor items instead. Would not purchase. Substitutes Old Saint's Armor (E) , Untouchable Plate (E) Cohr's Black Scepter- Whirlwind backfires way too often to consider playing. Ephriam's Crazy Boots- The only standout card is Quick Run and Diamond Moccasins pairs it with better cards. Keen Baselard- It can be useful for getting around armor in low level modules but still isn't worth buying. Notable Rares Blackeye Hammer- Good single token weapon. Manifold Healer- Best way to get Talented Healer for a minor token. Mirror Of Melting- Not as good as Akon's Amulet in terms of armor removal but Stone Spikes is often more useful than Dissolve Armor. Perfect Ferocity- This is the skill I use most often for dwarven vamps to get through armor. White Halberd- Best divine weapon for cramming more copies of Inspiration into your deck.
While I do believe the armors you have mentioned have better value as focused Arrogant with a side of Healing, I think Quaith's is more about healing with a side of Arrogant. See my post above. Also, Keen Baselard surprised me by being quite useful against Poison Blowdart and Brains! in Woodhome and Valley of Tezkal. I can agree on it being pricey, but useful.
Mokad's Reeking Skull Spoiler: Previously reviewed Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers The amount of card draw Mokad's Reeking Skull provides is unparalleled. In addition, Unholy Energy got a major boost in being able to self target. The damage you take is both negligible and preventable with armor. Now on to the bad news. Unholy Energy still makes for an awful topdeck. It does nothing the turn you cast it and you only break even on cards the following turn. That said, if you have a build that seeks to play the long game and/or amass a grip full of haymakers, Mokad's Reeking Skull may be just what you're looking for. People looking to rush their opponents before they have a chance to set up should look for a more pleasant smelling skull. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayers I can't stress enough how much it sucks when you buy a shiny new toy only to find out you can't even use it in over half the modules. Mokad's Reeking Skull is powerful and one of a kind but costing a major token makes it a poor investment. I will always sacrifice a bit of power if a more cost effective alternative is available because I know I will get more use out of it. If you have more gold than you know what to do with and you want the Cadillac of card draw items then by all means give Mokad's Reeking Skull a spin. The higher levels are certainly grindy enough that you'll have the time to benefit from the card advantage of Unholy Energy. Would not purchase otherwise. Substitutes Ebony Prayer Beads (R) , Incense Of The Caged Demon (E) The Daily Deal I thought about redoing this one since my opinion of Unholy Energy has gone way up but most of what I said before is pretty accurate. One tip I learned the hard way, be careful when you play it with Blind Rage and keep track of the order in which they will go off. Maquah Of Ancient Blood- One of the top if not the best minor token weapon. Staff Of Chask- This is a great melee character hoser. If you're fighting against wizards though, you will be the hosee. Xander's Boots- Ulalia's Boots are cheaper to equip and in my opinion, more desirable. Notable Rares Forceful Robes- The Resistant Hide lets you go toe to toe against most wizards while the Force attacks help you avoid melee attacks. One of my favorite tokenless robes. Hexagon Shield- One of the best tokenless shields. Orb Of Flames- Worth getting if you are short on Firestorms.
Brutal Agility Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers Brutal Charge and Escaping Run good cards but when you play with items like Brutal Agility you are giving up the chance to run racial cards that can't be found in other slots. For elves that means cards like Elven Maneuvers, Elvish Scamper, and Slippery. Sometimes your elf can't really take advantage of these cards and that's when you would want skills that give you copies of powerful cards from other slots. However, I doubt anyone has ever thought to themselves, "Gee, I wish I could shove more Escaping Runs into my deck." Even Brutal Charge, a card that has huge blowout potential, is something that gets a bit worse after the first copy you draw. Skill items need to do something exciting or cost no tokens. Brutal Agility does neither. Would not purchase. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayers Whenever I play elves I am looking for cards that allow me to chase down enemies. Brutal Charge and Escaping Run sort of fit the bill but there are so many items I would rather equip over Brutal Agility, the two most common ones being Cautious Mobility and Superb Evasion. Would not purchase. Substitutes None Apprentice Tactics- Neither exciting nor tokenless. Pass. Penteth's Orb- Firestorm with two sort of random cards attached. With an epic price tag, I wouldn't buy it unless you are in desperate need of Firestorms. Red Jon's Boots- Worst of the double Flanking Move boots. I would wait for Mouse Boots. Notable Rares Blood Locket- The poor man's Sarigo's Rod, although in some cases you'd rather have the cycler than another copy of Path Of Knives. Inspired Command- Best of the Inspirational Thinking skills. Yes, the other are that bad. Piercing Pick- Really only useful if your having trouble with armored enemies like trogs. If you're not interesting in coughing up the 100 gold bring a wizard packing a couple Akon's Amulets.
I had a lot of fun with Tochtli Boots and Brutal Agility on a warrior and priest in campaign. It may seem weird, but elves have a great ability to deal damage with Brutal Charge against the AI, especially the ones that like to stay 5 squares away. Would have been nice to get more Brutal Agility though.
Wellington's Shield Peon's Prescription for Prodigious Multiplayers Wellington's Shield is pretty good when you consider how crappy most minor token shields are. Whether or not the secondary effects of Disorienting Block and Icy Block are worth a minor token is debatable. Personally, I've never considered running Wellington's Shield over Parrying Buckler or Ichabod's Buckler. While I wouldn't recommend purchasing it, I will say that Disorienting Block has huge blowout potential and if you think you will get use out of Wellington's Shield it could be worth picking up. Peon's Perspective for Penny-Pinching Singleplayers Don't buy legendary shields. Ever. Some of the best shields are lower rarity with melee or magic and projectile only blocks. You would be a April Fool to bust the piggy bank for an expensive all purpose blocking shield. Would not purchase. Substitutes Acrobat's Aegis (R) , Jaguar Buckler (E) St. Voral's Charm- Healing Pulse is close to unplayable. Staff Of The Inferno- One of the best Firestorm staves, especially for modules where tokens are limited. Talisman Of Grief- Winner of the most ironically named item. Notable Rares Devastating Club- Best way to get Devastating Blows though you do need have some way to minimize the damage from Vunerable. Gauntlets Of The Giant- A mini Cuirass Of Froth without the encumberance. Incense Of Roiled Air- Very good Mass Frenzy item, especially if you are running Altruism.
