Randi is offering Huetotl's Firebrand this week, but I already have a St. Olf's Fiery Pike. Is it good to have both? I currently have enough money for 1.5 legendaries, but I was trying to save up for the cool stuff coming from EttSC.
Randi has some nice footwear for sale + talisman. I'm not currently looking for any build particularly, but if any of these sees much use or is particularly powerful in some leagues. Boots Of Etzicatl Pergop's Slippers Quellic's Boots Twizel's Water Talisman
It is good to have both but they are similar enough that I wouldn't splurge for the Firebrand if I had that little gold. Every one of those items has an epic substitute that gives you 2/3 of the cards you want. Tochtli Boots Zachary's Boots Kerrick's Steel Boots Bimson's Water Stone/The Soulstone Boots of Etzicatl and Twizel's Water Talisman give the most significant upgrades so I'd start with those. I would think about what items you would use with the Talisman first. No point in buying a major token item if you can't equip it in the builds you want. I don't think any of them are particularly worth buying unless you have a lot of excess gold though.
I would rank it as one of the more essential legends, but you can get by with other items if you'd prefer to save
There are a few things I'm interested in this time around. I can only afford to buy 1 legendary item. Kazmir's Staff looks like a decent general damage staff - probably not good enough to spend all my gold on though. The Hackmaster is an old classic. It's lost a lot of it's luster since the big-ticket card was nerfed, but it still fits well with the Quick Run warrior I'm using in my current build... ... speaking of that warrior; just before I checked Randimar's, I was lamenting my lack of good Obliterating Chop weapons. And lo, Randimar has Reaper's Scythe. This is the item I'm leaning toward buying - but I'll wait for the end of the week. Bruising Dervish is cute - but I don't think I can spend so much gold on a novelty item... Staff Of The Misanthrope looks like a potentially powerful farming weapon... but I've got enough of those already - and I don't think I need a zero token staff of that type. So. What do you think? What would you buy? And in particular, will I regret buying (or not buying) Reaper's Scythe?
I had to wait a year before i seen a Reapers Scythe, and then, 3 weeks in a row, in the shops! Incidentally i decided to buy 2 of them, but sadly apart from Chess madness and Triple threat, they wont see much use. The ranked maps are normally just too large to see them implemented. The Batfords rotation they might have been useful. It is still your best bet of the selection. I feel bad for bruising dervish, its an item that wants to be special, but it just has no place, i think of it as 2 sets of boots, would you use a minor token for a violent spin and 2 lousy bludgeons? What makes it worse of course is it takes up a weapon slot, the warriors bread and butter. Staff of Misanthrope is interesting, could be awesome SP, difficult in MP, but maybe possible. The Hackmaster, well, this item went from just usable, to not, unfortunate that it had its trump card weakened. Kazmirs staff, with freeze's boosted damage, on an open map this could really be a handful, missile block is not a waste either.
Staff of Misanthrope -> there aren't many low level legendary items, you'll eventually get some from Loot Fairy or playing low level maps (if you do that .. ) I actually dropped 3 of them in 2 days a month ago
I have a pretty amazing and enviable Randimar's. *cough* I'm actually here to just brag about it *cough* though I need help prioritizing the buys. Here are the legendaries: Asmod's Telekinetic Chain (Definitely my #1) Skull Of Savage Iljin (I have one, but I think two heads are better than one) Phantom Pain (Ahh heaven...) Brin's Storm Locket St. Alipp's Hammer Suvv's Boots Of Escape (I have one, perfect for elven vampires imo) Duncan's Leather Cap Boots Of Etzicatl Focused Thinker (Uhh... cycling if you have an extra major token? haha) Vira's Shimmering Robes Notable epics: Rantic's Orb Of Inner Fire (I already have four.) Superb Stoutness (I have one already, but will two be better?) Sarigo's Wand (Is this viable for WW and WWe + NS builds?) Riptide Notable rares: Hexagon Shield (I already have four.) Pellucid Shield (I already have two.) Ironwood Staff Of The Magus (I have only one.) So, what do you guys think?
@Deepweed, I agree about asmod's being #1. And if it was me, the only other thing I'd consider buying would be phantom pain - but that's mostly because I'm pretty poor. I probably wouldn't be able to afford to buy both anyway. Speaking of good items in Randimar's, here's my list for the new week: Axe Of The Titans - This is similar to the Reaper's Scythe I bought recently - so I probably pass on this. Bolg's Club Of Evasion - This was one of my favourites during the beta, before the dodge nerf - but I'll pass on it this time. Eye Of Wicna - I have one already, and I think that's enough. Ferocity - A nice looking trait; but I'm not rich enough to justify the cost. Kelvin's Chunk Of Ice - A useful niche item; but again, too expensive. Orb Of Ex Prillith's Robes Of Pain The Strongarm - This item is really in vogue at the moment; and for good reason. I'm not unsatisfied with my Blazing Shortsword as a zero-token weapon; but I'd sure appreciate the option to use this instead, or on a second warrior. Twipp's Energy Boots I'll probably try to buy The Strongarm before the end of the week. And although some of the other items are things I might use, I don't think I'll be able to afford them. The only non-legendaries I'd consider are Sturdy Armor, and Xipil Ring.
Having 30k in the bank, i was looking forward for the new week but the new items are again pretty disappointing. The only items that stand out are Bolg's Big Iron Plate Illusion St. Xarol's Mace Advanced Levitation Illusion is the only one that i am actually considering buying, what do you guys think?
@40c_rudy Advanced Levitation is very good. It's necessary if you want to maximize the number of Burst attacks on single a character.
I've used Bolg's Big Iron Plate in a Crusher build, and I definitely liked it -- sure, Strong Bludgeon isn't great, but when buffed with Crusher and/or Mass Frenzy/Blind Rage, it's much better. And Surging Shield Block is Walk in a worst case, but a poor man's old Hard To Pin Down more likely. EDIT: Here is the link for the old Hard to Pin Down. Read the text, not the card. In the big balance changes, it got hit hard, and Surging Shield Block got a big buff. I prefer the new state, honestly, because now both cards are usable, as opposed to one being crap. Related to above edit: any chance we can get the art reverted on Hard To Pin Down, with the blue/green split? I thought that looked great. And the same change on Surging Shield Block, too?
Randi gave me my first Wym's Lavastaff this week. If for some reason I have enough gold to buy a second legendary, should it be Eeygonnic's Shield or Ferocity? What about buying a second copy of Eixocl's Hammer?
