Downloading client every time

For the last 2 weeks (approx), whenever I want to play CH, Firefox downloads the Flash client every time instead of using a cached version. It's only a 5-15 second wait with my internet connection, but it's annoying.

Is anyone else getting the same problem - if not, can anyone suggest how I can persuade my browser to check versions and not bother downloading if there's no update? I thought about flushing the cache to see if that helps...if no-one else is experiencing the same behaviour then I'll attempt flushing and then uninstalling FF to see if that fixes it.

I just began seeing this today. I'll see if I figure out how to fix it.

You could try another browser (e.g. Chrome), just to see if you are getting the same issue.

Tested with IE, which doesn't exhibit this behavior. It must have been the most recent FF update which somehow broke caching. I remember ignoring the update message when it first notified me, and then finally updating just before I saw this begin.

Yes, I also see this behaviour in the latest build. It appears to be the new "backend cache" that they've turned on.

I fixed it by going to about:config and toggling the browser.cache.use_new_backend_temp variable to false.

Hopefully they'll fix the new cache properly soon.

D'oh, I just tracked it down to browser.cache.use_new_backend_temp myself. :p

Toggling that (plus reboot browser) fixed it for me.

That's fixed the problem for me too - many thanks!

This seems to be happening again for me - anyone else? The use_new_backend_temp variable is still set to false.

I just checked this out, which required updating Firefox and getting the latest Flash player. I also had to "refresh" my Firefox installation to get it to recognise the Flash player for some reason. Anyway, after all that the cache seems to be working fine for me.

I have user_new_backend set to zero and use_new_backend_temp to true. Maybe try toggling yours back to true?

Thanks - I've done that and will see what happens.
