Peasant Tournament - Round 1 Pairings & Match Times

CT5 beat ElShafto in a very close and fun match! Results & video are in the (updated) first post.

Meanwhile, Tragus encountered technical difficulties and we were unable to resolve them before he had to go to work, so Stormyknight won by forfeit. There is no video of this non-match. I am very sorry for these difficulties as we get things going, but some elements are out of my hands. Round 2 should be better, once we have everyone on the same page regarding logistics like how to sign into one's account

Here's a suggestion, then: get me to put in more work

 

Oh, I got a suggestion for you. Do a post tourney feedback poll for community, participants etc. Ask about what can be improved and stuff. yh, I'm such a slave driver...*whips Flax

 

Yep definitely planning to do that.

On another note, I tried recording CT5 & ElShafto's match at a lower resolution so that things would be less tiny and weird-looking on YouTube. Can I get some feedback? Does it look better than the previous three videos? Max resolution for broadcast seems to be 720p so I made my window exactly 1280x720. Let me know if it's any better! Thanks.

 

Great to hear ! Its good to lay down the roadmap from time to time so players are kept informed and can give productive feedback and ideas.

 

Much better for me. Words are showing much better, my monitor is 1280x720. Are u using fraps ? Other than frame rate not being smooth which is suspect is the default 25Hz setting, I'm cool with the visual. Hope it helps...

No worries. I'm broadcasting using Google Hangouts, it's the simplest tech available to me at the moment.

 

While chat is better to read, tactical view hurts as we see only small part of the map. Especially on larger maps. So I would rather see action not chat myself. I wonder if it is possible to export chat log somehow to clipboard. Or record just that small window in another capture instance. Not sure if it is possible given the application or hardware. Well talks are usually not important really, but some damage figures, cards played or discarded are nice to be known. Your commentary Flexative helps though and it is not needed almost at all. So again - I prefer bigger window.

 

Yeah I tried to pan around a lot. I hear you though. Anyone else have feedback on video resolution? I want to get this right.

 

Hey, it was 2-1 CT5, not 2-0. I want credit for my (lucky as hell) Celestial Lions map win.

That game on Celestial Lions was insane.

 

Updated the first post with results and video from ArcadianRook vs. Red Mage. Rook took the victory. Red Mage flagged in the first game, our first forfeit due to running out of time. Also in the first game my computer decided to turn itself off, so there's a long gap in the video. Sorry about that.

Issues of kibitzing and time control came up. I'm going to start a separate thread for debating the tournament rules.

All match results are recorded in the first post of this thread, and most of the matches have video. CT5 joined me to commentate on the last two matches of the round. That was fun.

I'm going to post pairings for Round 2 as soon as possible, and match times will be based on the same availability data as before. As before, please check with me if the times I give you don't work and we can work out a solution. I will try not to schedule matches on Christmas...

If there are any rules questions or objections between rounds, let me know. If anyone wants to drop, let me know ASAP. Otherwise we'll proceed into the next round with swiss pairings based on records, keeping the rules as-is. At this time, I am not changing the time control.

Thanks to everyone spectating, getting the word out, and providing feedback on this test drive! I hope it's been fun and continues being fun!

MY BEST PLAY: TheShadowTitan vs. Dave Game #3 Haunted Cabin

TheShadowTitan moving his priest (Lerikpro) into the cabin. That's around the 37 min mark in Flax's video. This move does 4 things at once:

a) Threatens Dave's 5 hp warrior, weakening enemy pincer formation
b) Upgrades priest's role from pure support to fighter + support
c) Solidifies VP contest priority
d) Deny space for enemy occupation

Ughhh, sorry I missed the first round everyone... I had some technical difficulties which I have informed Flax about. The turnout looks great so far though, I hope to give it a go in the 2nd round if possible.
