Shouldn't Adaptable be a Boost?

    Before I say anything else, I have to mention that I decided to make this thread when I had a Dwarf Priest use a Sundering Strike on a Mutant Brute that had Adaptable in it's hand.

    Of course, Adaptable didn't trigger until AFTER damage was already done. That said, what damage does it prevent? I don't mean the cards it creates for you, I mean Adaptable, ITSELF. Where, on the card, does it say that it prevents damage?

    It doesn't. It never does.

    ...so, shouldn't Adaptable be a Boost that you keep in your hand, not unlike Uncanny Dodge or Quick Reactions?

    @Gingrich Yurr: Wizards already have enough OPness as it is, anyway, with Mitternacht about to make them even *more* OP with the items that only they can use [like every expansion manages to pull off]. Adaptable would be harder to get rid of as a boost, too. In fact, it might actually become somewhat more usable if it's not instantly done away with by anti-armor stuff.

    So you are saying that wizards are OP because their anti-armor cards can discard Adaptable?

    @j3st3ri: Thank you. Fixed, accordingly.

    @Gingrich Yurr: No, I'm saying that they're OP, period. They have far more numerous methods of offense and defense, AND they have MANY more cards available that only they can use, as well. Just note the kinds of cards that they can use compared to the kinds of cards that warriors and Priests can use, and that really should say it all.

    Wizards too have Adaptable on one of the robes. Wouldn't the boost boost make them more OP if you say so?

    @visak13: It wouldn't benefit them as much as it would benefit Warriors, for sure; your normal Wizard has things like Slippery and Hover and all the other good Boosts they have. If and when they draw it, and attach to them, and they ALSO have Adaptable as a Boost, Adaptable will nix THEIR attachments with it's own attachments, eventually phasing them out if the attacker is flexible enough.

    It'd just need to be remade so that it only triggers on damage from ENEMY cards, for reasons that i think should be obvious.

    If Adaptable only triggers from enemy damage then Mutants will be even more suicidal in SP than they already are, given their love of throwing around Rad Pulses. I'm not sure why Adaptable should only trigger on enemy damage disregarding SP issues, is it because of Firestorm or something? I don't see the obvious reason.

    I really do like Adaptable myself anyway, I run Ewix on both my Warriors in MP, and I am curious how much better it would be as a Boost. I doubt it'll happen anytime soon given it can already be a very powerful card, but I certainly would not object to it.

    Elves, not wizards.

    Wizards may have the most variance and exclusivity of attacks, but they are the least stable class in the game. There is no consistent build that wizards can use, unless they are depending upon a priest (mostly) to create the stability for them. Three wizards of any race together are the most reliant on what their enemies are using than any other class in the game. Dwarf wizards are the most stable out of all wizards types because their handicap (movement) is the easiest to overcome in the game + they don't need to move much to be effective. Elf wizards are the least stable because their handicap (health) is the hardest to overcome (with no help from other classes).

    Sorry to go off topic, but I just had to chime in on the 'overpowered' nature of wizards.

    One other thing about wizards... It's true that their cards are better. Of course they are better. Wizard's cards need to be better than other classes, because that's the only thing they've got to make up for their lower health. Wizards have better cards and lower health. That's how the balance works.
