First of all, let me say the game looks great and I'm quite excited that the well known Piratecat from the D&D community is involved. There is talk of a beta here on the forum but I'm not sure if anybody has mentioned the Ipad version. Will there be a beta for the Ipad? And if so, is there anywhere (a thread to post in, an email list etc) that I can register my interest? As nice as the game looks, I don't think I can see myself checking in to this forum day after day, month after month just to check if the opportunity might arise. -Jools
Card Hunter so far runs on a browser-based Flash platform: there is no iPad version, yet. Blue Manchu obviously would like to spread as broadly as possible, but it's a small team. They can't do everything at once. Since the devs are currently working on the "main" beta, it is pure guesswork as to when any alternate clients will be available. If iPad is the only platform you are interested in, then I think you likely have a wait time of several months but I honestly have no clue. And, as of this posting, there isn't a sign up for any kind of beta, though they make it sound like it could happen any day.
Just by listening to how BM was talking about them getting onto the tablet platform, it seems like they want to, and that it will happen eventually, but not before the game is a lot more complete. I feel like if an iPad version comes out before the game gets released, it will be after the beta for the browser version. I would also like to sign up for that beta, my iPad has been hungry for the kind of use this game would get it.
I would very much like to swipe cards around by touch gestures. It would like inching closer to the physical card game/board game roots, while still having computer bookkeeping. And sound effects. I mean, other than nerdy voice effects and murderous shrieks.
Jools, I didn't think of it right away, but you could follow Blue Manchu on Twitter. Then the news would come to you when it happens. I can't imagine they would do anything so important as an iPad release without any notice. Edit: They also have a Facebook page that I forget about because I'm usually checking the forum.
Great answers from the community! Yes, we are focusing on delivering our current version, before we branch out into other platforms. Don't worry -- we haven't forgotten about tablets. Speaking for myself, I would love to play Card Hunter on my iPad!
