So Card Hunter releases September 12, two weeks from now. But as far as I can see the game still has a level cap at level 20, with the highest level adventure being 18. Does that mean the game will release with level 20 at the cap and will get the higher levels later? Or will the level cap on release be already higher, with lots of content never tested in the beta?
Doubt there's anything ready beyond lvl 20 - in terms of items or adventures (altough there are unused higher level cards that are taken out of rotation), so as I see it content wise beta and release are the same. If they add stuff above lvl 18, they'll have to adress raising the level cap and possibility of higher level gear, so I expect they'll announce how they plan to do this in the future around when the game comes out. Best guess is they release the Rogue, and maybe more lower level adventures first and saving the main campaign bit for a bigger expansion, in a few months maybe?
Hey, if they toss out the rogue, I'd be satisfied. My major issue with playing the game post-release is the nagging feeling that I've done this already, but if they at least give me some new toys, I'll be happy. Although I wonder how they would introduce them, whether they're going to add a choice to the tutorials, or just add another step, or just let us figure it out on our own.
When they were talking about tokens, the revealed showed that they had planned for around 50 levels and at higher levels you would get silver and gold tokens (thats why the token we get now is just bronze). I doubt thats going to happen anytime too soon. Lots of new stuff needs to implemented and there needs to be lots of tests for balance etc. Its probably going to be similar to an expansion in a future much much further down the road. I do look forward to fireballs again...
