After taking a good look at the mugs posted in the newest blog update, I'm not embarrassed to say I'm a little jealous! http://www.cardhunter.com/2012/06/blue-manchu-logo-the-early-years/ I know that it won't be for quite a while, but I would be quite the supporter of Blue Manchu/Card Hunter merchandise for sale. I can see it now, mugs, shirts, miniatures! Oh the miniatures! Thoughts anyone?
Let me tell you, buddy, we ALL want miniatures. If only this thing could come out in cardboard, we'd be snatching it up. And then, well, lamenting the fact that the computer handles these game mechanics way better than a bunch of humans with limited boards and pieces could do. As to the rest, I don't know. T-shirts are done all the time. I might wait until the special-edition real-world-mockup versions of beloved weapons, armor, and artifacts. You know, the commemorative +1 chainmail you can actually wear, the magic sceptre with glow-in-the-dark orb on top, the usual.
You make some good points Sir Knight! I think a hardcopy of the game would be awesome but I'm sure it would encounter it's problems. I also think the look of the adventures are done so well that I'd want some copies of them as collector's items. It would be cool if they came with the dialogue of the adventure, maybe some extra information, Idunno. It seems like they could be useful for higher level adventures if they would include a list of items and their drop percentage rates or act as a sort of walkthrough. All wishful thinking though, haha.
Or . . . what if Blue Manchu made paper copies of the adventures (or just released .pdf files) loaded with developer commentary? They could put as much or as little "game guide" content as they wanted, and would have this other behind-the-scenes direction to go that would interest many players and not be a redundant product.
That would also be something I could get behind. I like the idea of paper copies more than .pdf files though. The paper copies themselves would be sort of a novel thing to have, they'd be like collector's items. If they put stuff out in .pdf format, sure the information would be readily available, but I think it would detract from the coolness of having the paper copies. However a .pdf would still be pretty awesome of Blue Manchu to do.
At least print up some paper copies of the adventures to sell at conventions. Stopping by the Blue Manchu desk, shaking Jon's and Farbs' hands, and walking away with a couple adventure pamphlets would make my day. ...not that I get the chance to attend many conventions these days.
