I played both of these cards in the Garnet Demon first level and on both occasions, the area of effect was one tile. The target tile illuminate in red but the expected terrain tile does not appear in them all, only the first tile clicked. The first time I thought it might be a terrain issue, but the next times I used them the areas were clear and in a line not touching any blocking terrain.
You can't target squares out of your character's Line of sight, even if they are adjacent to the initial target square. However this may not be the issue here. If this happens again, can you take a screenshot please?
