Between this morning and last night I've ended up in a game with Cardotron 3 times. On two of the occasions he smoked me on the second turn. And on the 3rd time, I conceded on the 3rd turn, massively overwhelmed. I don't think I'm a great player or anything, but something is massively unbalanced if I'm playing a bot and it KILLS two of my sturdy chars on the second turn. On both occasions mentioned the bot managed to draw a hand of nothing but golds and greens for both attacks and armor. On turn two, ALL THREE GAMES, I was barraged with laser whips, mega lasers, lava pools, more lasers, blocked by laser blocks and auto-blocks creating more laser whips and mega lasers, and all of the pieces are wearing gold and silver armor already. What??? This happened all three games. I understand a build that good might be possible...but I'm only rank 1100. Why am I playing a rank 1800 bot, that literally wipes the floor with me all three games within 2 minutes. I really think this needs some adjusting. I'd rather wait for a game until I can get one then be forced into a game with an OP bot. Yesterday I had a great win rate and climbed about 100 points in rank. This morning my first two games so far were against Cardotron and i'm down 40 points. I never even stood a CHANCE. If anything bots should be a near easy win. It's already a bummer if you have to wait long enough for a game that you end up with a bot. I shouldn't get my corned creamed by a bot on turn 2, 3 games in a row. Anyway, love the game and been playing a year or so now, not trying to come across like a whiny a-hole. Thanks ahead of time for listening to my rant and hopefully addressing this
You can turn off AI opponents by unchecking the 'Allow GM opponents' box beneath the MP match seeker, if you do so you'll never be matched with any overpowered AI opponents. As for the AI opponents themselves, it's true that they have very overpowered cards, but that's only to make up for the fact that the AI is nowhere near as competent with playing cards as humans are and they need cards like those to be competetive. Once you have a large item collection and understand how the AI works it becomes much easier to defeat them and abuse their shortcomings. If an AI used cards of the same power level as players do then they inevitably wind up at very low Elo ratings, which is the case for AI opponents like Gary and Melvin. The Cardotron and Mom AI opponents are made to be a decent match-up against opponents with high Elo scores which is why their cards are so crazy and don't follow human deckbuilding rules.
Derrrp. I always left that checked because I thought it meant allow admin opponents. Thanks for the answer.
And that is excluding the ones that aren't shown because they get blitzed too frequently. Like Gary and Melvin.
On the other hand, take into account the fact that most people who couldn't reliably handle cardotron wouldn't check the "allow GM opponents" box.
