Sometimes Traits don't properly "bounce" if the enemy takes a turn before you have your opportunity to play them. You still get the "You must play a Trait" command and the "glow" highlight. It may require that the enemy kill one of your characters on that turn or something. Sorry for being vague. I'd THINK it would be obvious if this required only that the enemy take the first turn in general.
I've noticed this as well, just haven't been able to pin it down yet. It's actually easier to miss having to play a trait if they aren't bouncing now that you expect them to be bouncing.
Hmm, unfortunately, it's not that simple. I suspect it may be an animation timing issue, but if anyone can figure this out more clearly I'd be most grateful.
