...And its 2 priest, 1 wiz, volcano / bless / cleansing ray / nimbus. God damn, its annoying to play against. Slow, and its like wading through treacle. I guess, the good news is, once you've seen it, you know what to expect next time. Its just...well I need to vent. Its a joke of a deck to play against. You sit there while opponent runs endless "decoy" cards, in the hope that you will burn your move cards, and then he just ends up cvolcanoing anywya! It drains my enthusiasm for the game, playing decks like this. But, having said that, should be easy to beat once you know the combo lol, so I'm not afgter advice, just needed to vent about the fact that single-minded decks like this exist, with so little varieyt, and people play them
There's only one annoying deck ... ... and it's whichever deck happens to be ticking me off at the moment. Too often it's my own. Happy Venting!
I can sympathize with you, but I'm the kind of person that can't hate a deck like that, even though I'm completely infuriated by them. The main problem with this deck is the same as the old firestorm deck, back when it covered the entire board: it was a complete turtlefest. Now, I like Volcano, so I'm going to put the blame of this deck squarely on the cards that allow massive card cycling: Bless and Cleansing Ray. They heal, they remove lava terrain for underneath you, and they draw cards on top of that. Normally not too bad, but with this amount of damage potential from the wizards and a ready supply of terrain, this deck is extrordinarily aggrivating to play against.
Any build that chains nimbus is a bit frustrating. But for some reason I find buffed burst wizards far far more frustrating to play against. There's a sense of dread that comes over me when I see Unholy Wellspring and Savage Curse on a wizard in turn one. ... I know what comes next... Demonic Power and then a short chain of Arcane Bursts - each one dealing huge damage, and almost unavoidable due to the ability to burst around corners. Playing against builds like that just makes me under pressure to attack right away. I feel rushed into action, without good cards or good positioning - because I know that if I don't act in the first couple of turns, that burst damage is going to kill at least one of my characters. Playing against nimbus and volcano isn't as bad for me, because there isn't that sense of immediate pressure. They aren't dealing damage to me every turn; and so I can just wait it out until I get a good opening. (Although, it's bad if I know I don't have any Purge cards in my deck...)
