The raging thread

    Fellow Cardhunterians,

Since Card Hunter is a card game with tactical elements (or vice versa), some luck is involved in order to win. Some say more, some say less. I`m not here to judge that, but it should be obvious to all by now, that being at least a bit lucky is necesarry. There comes a time when no matter how hard we struggle, we`re meant to fail. No amount of good moves may compensate terrible rolls, bad drawing and such. Those moments make some of us raging, especially when in large numbers and completely against mathematical rules. The idea of this thread is to share moments that have upset us the most.

I shall give you an example (which unfortunately happened two day ago and left me watching helplessly as a nearly won game slipped away and laughted in my face).

Late game. My dwarf warrior (16hp) vs opponent`s one (10 or 11). Got parry in hand and a weak chop (didn`t use it in case he draws a block next turn). My opponent has no cards in hand, so I`m feeling semi secure. New turn begins, he moves first. What he drew? Obliterating bludgeon and War cry.

That`s one of my stories, will share more later. Feel free to vent off some steam and share yours. Even if it won`t offer you any consolation, I can always offer a e-hug and my sympathy.

Oh, one more thing: This thread is not meant to bash the game. It`s absolutely fantastic, even if sometimes hurts my feelings.

    Cheers!

This one falls under own stupidity: If you use Unholy Frenzy on a PC with Frenzy Aura, you're gonna have a bad time. LFMF.

If you need to roll a DICE the game is always based on luck aint it?

It is based on luck, but your tactical decisions play a big role in it.

And if you roll dice AND draw cards, the likelihood of luck being a factor is inescapable!

The game hasn't made me rage in a while, probably because I've been playing less PvP lately. :)

QFT. I started off wanting to get 3 gold chests a day in MP, but recently have just shifted to tweaking my farming builds. Partially because I can get called away from the computer any moment, so SP is much safer in that regard.

    1) Failing 4 parries in a row and dying (MP).

    2) Failing a total of 6 magic blocks on 3 characters and having my entire team flung twice with WWE because of it, one after another (MP).

Just playing the last mission of Black Oaken Heart (against the Tree King or whatever he is called): My warrior and priest manage to draw nothing but their weakest cards in the first three rounds while my mage dies in the second...

I won in the end though, but it took long.

Must share this one that happened the other day:

My opponent's warrior has one unrevealed card and only 10hp, I will win the match if I kill him, I have three attacks, 2 of which will kill him.

I lead off with the weakest attack to draw parry if he has one, and sure enough, he parries it.

I then attack a second time, going for the fatal blow, but get parried again thanks to the card he drew from the first parry.

Finally I use my last attack to try again to finish him off, and hit... another parry.

The kicker? He mentions apologetically that he only has three parries in the deck.

He then proceeds to kill my wizard and win the match.

I need to explain to my PCs the meaning of Predictable Stab again. It doesn't mean Unblockable Stab. Or Ticklish Stab. You will die if you take 4 of the damn things in a round.

Just use them yourself against the enemy. You will be astonished how many blocks and parries can work one after another. :)

I put nimbus on Mom's warrior. She had 2 perfect blocks on, and both failed.
