I hate acting so sceptical here, but I think the upcoming server shutoff was allegedly because the server code can't be maintained due to licencing issues... presumably Flash related... But what about the free Epic Chests and the 30% off Pizza?!??! Were both of those previously implemented features, and if not how was a new feature created and implemented on the non-Steam server if new features can't be implemented on the non-Steam server? (*) Although the Loot-Fairy-Everywhere is a pre-existing feature (previously used for the Birthdays,) I think I remember some mention that turning it on and off required a recompile,(*) so that leads to the same question. Regarding being "Sceptical": If I believed everything I heard about the Flash problems, I wouldn't believe that game.cardhunter.com could still possibly work since 1/1/2021, which it does. In fact, it still works as of today if you can get your browser to ignore some certificate abnormalities, which Chrome can do and is doing (provided you already have Flash installed.) (As well as other browser-work-arounds I suspect.) BTW.... although this is more of an achedemic question and not something I can reasonably expect Cardhunter to take advantage of, I know that there are alternate sources of Flash clients, but I was wondering if there was any open-source or just reasonable-priced alternate sources for Flash or Flash-imitation developement software that can produce Flash code and/or Flash-like code that will run under it's own free-to-use interpretor-client? (The app used to run it.) Thanks. * - I remember that because someone was cute enough to reply that if it took a recompile to turn it off as well as on, then they wouldn't mind if the Loot-Fairy-Everywhere was just left on.
(When I say server below, I include the possibility of multiple computers acting as "one server." Number of computers doesn't matter for this purpose.) It sounds like you believe that there is a different server each for website vs. Steam .. vs. Kongregate perhaps. My impression is that there are were different clients, all connecting to the same server, and therefore that it's the client recompilation that's the issue. P.S. Okay, I won't mince words. Your skepticism of The Knights' claim means you suspect them of lying. Why lie?—a.k.a., how would such a lie benefit them? Spoiler: Answer before reading my guess? $;^ J "Updating more than once is kind of inconvenient; let's cut off a sizeable chunk of our paying customerbase. Also, we can blame Adobe to avoid PR problems while we avoid income.""
"let's cut off a sizeable chunk of our paying customerbase" Blue Manchu disabled payments in the web client before TKOU took over. I don't understand why anyone would think we're somehow benefitting from the Flash shutoff or using it to our advantage. Having a web client was preferable to not having a web client. Yes.
