It would be cool to add cards for mages or priesteses that could summon different allies to come and fight for you. There should also be different classes of mages so you can be a dark mage and summo demons or the undead.
The problem with summoners in turn based rpg is that they are always under or overpowered and besides that there are a myriad of problems with rounds turns and cards extra if summons existed in this game.
And if there was some sort of penalty such as giving it half of your health or while you are using the summoned the summoner cant attack or move. or maybe sharing cards
Transfer of control type of summon could be interesting. You spend a card to summon something a few tiles away, and now all your actions happen from that thing instead of from yourself. In this model, the summoned thing should be very low hitpoints. You would need a reliable way to cancel the summon as well. I was going to say a "Doesn't count toward hand limit" card, but then the opponent might make you discard your oldest card, trapping you in the summoned creature while they are free to drop Lava under your actual unit. Splitting health with the summon would be another option, but if that happened then losing control of your main unit would make it barely any advantage at all. A cosmetically nifty move card really, but with the one bonus of automatic retreat when you are knocked down by half health. Having summons bring out a creature with a deck all to itself and giving you a 4th character to control would, as stated, be insanely overpowered, or laughably underpowered. Making it actually balanced nicely would be quite tricky. So I think the first version, a transfer of control very low hitpoint card, would be the best approach for being somewhat balanced in actual play. It allows you to maneuver for dangerous proximity or line of sight and try to land a nice attack/support. And carries the added risk of needing to protect your immobile main body.
I suggested something similar a long time ago based around the warlock spell from D&D that lets use another very specific unit as the source of your cast instead of your self.
What are the chances that the creators will actually read this post and intergrate in the card hinter system because i would like to see this happen
