[Suggestion] Shift-mouseover vs move cards

This suggestion largely stemmed from the fact that after the encumber fix, I'm seeing and experiencing a ton of players who simply forget they are encumbered or move restricted. Some just outright resign in mp after playing move card. I'm guessing attachment effects are frustrating and a hassle for most players. This suggestion also applies to move-buffs.

Suggestion 1: The default move mouse-over preview for move-only cards shows the possible moves of the card. Use Shift-mouseover to show the preview after computing attachments and in-hand buffs. This should only be visible to player, ie, I should not be able to shift-mouseover my opponent's visible move card.

Suggestion 2: Currently, hybrid move cards show attack candidates upon mouse-over. As above, use Shift-mouseover to show the move preview after computing attachments and in-hand buffs. Similarly, it should only be visible to player.

    Results:
    a) If my dwarf is encumbered 2 and I have Shrug It Off in hand, mouse-over the Walk card will show the 2 spaces. Shift-mouseover will show the yellow orientation overlay previews. This will allow me to decide whether to play Shrug It Off and Walk or just play Walk to change my facing.

    b) If my warrior is encumbered 2 and I have Vicious Thrust + Energizing Move in hand, mouse-over the Vicious Thrust card will show the attack candidates in range. Shift-mouseover will show the 1 square movement range preview.

For suggestion 1, why bother with the shift key? Why not just show "post-computation moves" automatically, changing the normal mouseover? This game is generally programmed to be as quick and efficient as can be, and an extra key would require explanation to new players.

Of course, we've gone back-and-forth on the merits of THAT suggestion, too. Any such system has to communicate clearly. And any system (with shift or without) has to deal with random Encumber cards (e.g., Demonic Miasma). My own suggestion for an automatic system:
For suggestion 2 . . . hmm. Interesting. Personally, I'd prefer it if such cards showed the movement highlight by default. But the option to check out both sounds like a good idea.

Without the shift-key, I can mouse-over opponent's visible move cards and it will show post-computation moves for my opponent. This possibly reveals the nature of his hand, interfering with gameplay.

If I'm not wrong, there might be a technical headache with regard to 'move post-computations' due to their largely reaction based nature. An alternative suggestion is to show a tooltip reminder during mouse-over (in hand and attached) that will possibly affect the move if executed. Example: shift-mouseover a Walk card to reveal a tooltip showing 'Affected by: Frost Jolt attachment, Rushing Aura in hand' etc. Ditto for hybrids.

Oh, no, that would be a terrible idea. Any such automatic system already assumes that sort of thing is handled separately: anything the player doesn't know is NOT incorporated into calculations. It would have to be: consider the other part of the "Move cards cause triggers" debate, namely those Move-canceling triggered cards. Your own movement distance would have to be turned into a pile of ? symbols if your opponent had one of those. But obviously you can't show that if your opponent's card is hidden, right?

Same with your concern about the opponent's unknown movement limitations.

What you are suggesting is to remake the usual mouse-over into: usual mouse-over for enemy move preview + post compute self effects for allied move preview. That works for plain move cards but not hybrids...shrugs, I don't see a clean way around it...yet ;)

Additionally, it would be great if it also took into account the movement enhancement cards in hand such as teleport, flight, etc.

(Of course a lot of this confusion could be avoided by all cards having a cancel button. :p But that's another thread.)
