I was wondering if the current adventure spots could be designed solely as locations ? So 'Raid on Ommlet' would become Ommlet and when the party journeys to Ommlet, it would expand into the various locations in Ommlet !? This would separate adventures from locations. Ideally, you could fit more adventures into a single location while keeping the map as a typical map, instead of how it looks like now... Just food for tots
I like this idea. I could really see it useful for many adventures involving a single location. The "zoomed in" map could contain more meaningful artwork that would correspond to the adventures. i.e. the party follows goblins into a cave, there will be a cave or there's a castle to defend, the player will actually see it. Obviously, this would require a ton of time to produce these things, but maybe they could be used for premium dungeons or major events in the storyline (whenever that comes along).
Bumping this thread, I'm lvl 8 now and my screen isnt at 800 vertical resolution. Map is becoming cluttered and everything looks kinda messy. Really hope that the adventures and locations are separated, scaled icons and better representation of locations on the map. If would also help greatly to show a trail from startington keep to the various locations when new locations are triggered. For the sake of reducing dev's workload, I went and grouped adventures with suggestions as below. Location: Town of Ommlet Raid on Ommlet Kobold Encampment Tunnels into Darkness White skull Canyon Location: Grey Havens (taken straight from lotr lore ) Wizard's Workshop Location: Shieldhaven Rescue from Shieldhaven Prison Location: Land of Trogs Caverns of Trogolodytes Lair of the Trog Wizard Location: Woodhome The Defense of Woodhome Return to Woodhome Location: Trail to Kyburz Highway Robbery Location: Lizard Kingdom Dungeons of the Lizard Priest Slub'Gut's Sanctum Location: The Gem Mountains Diamonds of Kobolds Beneath the Frozen Earth The White Star Hope it helps.
nice idea and in time, when more adventures are released , would keep the map not too overcrowded. In addition that choice can help in expanding the lore. However for the location i'll continue to use distorted greyhawk location like Ommlett (homlet in original D&D module)
Yes, this is a very good way to implement what others (me included) have suggested, i.e. having a more elaborate map/random events between missions.
