Hi ! I don't know if this is the correct place to make a suggestion. I think theVolcano card is not balanced. Unlike Hot Spot and Wall of Fire, this card doesn't even require line of sight to be played. So two suggestions here in order to tone down this card: 1) The card would only affect the squares of all characters in the wizard's line of sight when she casts it (and it will always include her own square), much like Flash of Agony. OR 2) The card would work in the same way it does now, but with reduced range (4 or 5 squares). The way I see it, Volcano is an overpowered card. If I collect sufficient Mordecai's Staves of Magma...
It is a powerful card, no doubt; but I personally don't think it's too powerful. Unlike Hot Spot and Wall Of Fire, Volcano also puts your own characters in danger. Generally speaking, effective usage of Volcano requires you to make the enemy spend their moves while you're still able to avoid the lava yourself - either by holding onto your own moves, or by having some other kind of protection. It's easier said than done, and attempting it will often tip off the enemy, such that they hold onto their moves as well. As I said, I do think it's a powerful card. But in my experience Volcano is not a dominating part of multiplayer games.
In the higher Elo volcano doesn't exist. I wish I got to vs volcano more often as it would be the easiest game of the day
I'll be looking forward to that The first time you play vs Volcano you might lose because you didn't know such card even exists. After the first time you should already know it's wise to keep your move cards unless you really need to use them. Also wizards have very common traits like Hover and Dimensional Traveller which make them quite immune to lava. I think Volcano is a good card but there's a list of stronger, better and overall more useful cards than Volcano.
I don't know if you're a Card Hunter dev, Lord Feleran, but if you aren't going to nerf Volcano, so please no need to change/nerf Mordecai's Staff of Magma as well. I just wanna amass a good amount of them (currently I have zero Mordecai's) to make my Volcano party. But, since I have none of them, it could take months before I make such a memorable wizard team. In any way, thanks to everyone who cared to post on this thread.
Another factor that makes Volcano pretty balanced is that it can be spotted from a mile away (constant passing, certain traits, holding on to moves, etc). If you're lucky, you get your opponent to fall for it once. Then the jig is up... Still one of my favorite cards though. Makes for some awesome mind games.
Volcano is annoying, but not the worst. Now, if there was an acidic version of it, and players had access to Blooming Ground. . . that might be OP.
