Feel free to post with your own thoughts/suggestions. I figured I’d try to put all my thoughts (and a few others I’ve seen) in one place for optimal visibility and feedback. I’ll gladly add in other suggestions to the main post. ------------------------------------------------------------------ The drum sound should be optional, and/or only make sound occasionally such as once a minute or so (we don’t need a drumroll to let me know there’s a conversation – it should be more like a microwave’s beeping to remind you there’s a delicious conversation ready for consumption). Don’t have the channel list/Spectator lists go back to the top multiple times a second. Appears to already be added in 1.22. Yay! The channel list should be sortable - sortable by name, by rating, and by Friends (once Friends are added). Maybe by duration in chat too, but name is definitely the big one. Related to a sortable channel list, admins/devs should always be at the top of the list. Perhaps your text should be a different color as well, and/or a special marker by your names to indicate your status? While the Blue Manchu symbol is obvious to anyone who already knows you guys, newer players may never figure it out on their own. Consider adding a flood/spam filter. Something like no more than 4 comments in a 20 second period would allow for normal conversations to flow, while curbing the occasional spammer. In a match, there should be a default in-game-chat tab open. Right now, it only creates one after you type. Before Lobby chat was viewable, this was intuitive, but now it’s not – you only see the Battle Log and Lobby Chat initially, causing people to often type to their opponent in the Lobby chat. Just have all 3 tabs viewable by default. And put Lobby chat last. And stop it from Flashing on every new comment (or at least make it an option to turn the flashing off). Some names are so long that their ratings cannot be seen. I saw it on beta, and have seen it a few times on live where part or all of the rating isn’t visible due to name length. Whether or not rating should be visible is arguable, but it should be consistent among all players. I’d like to see a “guide to reporting” added to Gary’s MP tutorial. A lot of people don’t understand its importance, when it’s far-and-away the best way to combat problematic behavior. Maybe a short interactive tutorial, perhaps where a Bully shows up and you report him or something silly. The specifics don’t matter, as long as it shows a player how to report someone so they know the UI. Throw in a comment or two from Gary about the importance of proper behavior and why it’s important to report people who deserve it. I’d go as far as having Gary act like the perfectly courteous MP player – have him wish you good luck at the start of the match, and gracefully bear his defeat (“Well played! I’m a little upset that I didn’t get luckier and manage to win, but there’s always next time!”) or victory (“Good match! I’m looking forward to having another one”). I don’t remember what he does say on the first play-through, so my apologies if that’s already been done.
I wanted to open a thread about this when I saw you already did. basically I would love to see all your suggestions implemented. honestly the lobby had become somewhat annoying, people who barely played 20 matches complain and whine incessantly about stuff that you know derives from their inexperience as opposed to legitimate claims, usually revolving around how other players have better items, other players only win because they bought chests (because they cant just lose to someone who plays better obviously) or just some other ridiculous spam about life that they must share with everyone. some people write so much in the span of one minute you cant even follow the chat if you actually wanted and all of it is followed by that drum sound which by this point had become mind puncturing... sure I can turn the volume to 0 but I actually enjoy the in-game sounds and its a bit silly to enter the menu to change the volume every time youre in and out of a match. forgive my little rant here, the game is still awesome ofcourse and I know it will only get better
