I won't be playing the new leagues, I'm not even tempted. I did okay in the free leagues, but even with lots of newbie opponents I still managed to get 4 losses once. Now that all my potential opponents are good to great players, I won't stand a chance of winning, certainly not worth risking 50 pizza. Luckily there's only one figure I want from the prizes, and it's not one I absolutely have to have. Thinking about this today, I asked myself two questions: 1. What would convince me to play leagues again? More free leagues, obviously, though I don't think they should give pizza as prizes. Also, there's my idea posted elsewhere for a Free Trial option: no fee, no prizes, but otherwise you're treated just like players who paid to play. This would fill pods with players who can't afford the fee or don't want to risk it, and let them see if they're ready to play for real yet. 2. What would convince me to give BM more money? I'm really cheap; I spent $10 in Beta, which was only the second time this century that I've spent money on a game. But I really do like this game, and would hate to see it shut down because the devs have to quit and get real jobs. So... what if instead of paying a fee each time we play a league, we spend $5 to Unlock a league (just one league, not a set of four)? Unlocked leagues can be played for free whenever they're scheduled and won't award pizza prizes. So basically you're paying $5 for the figure, which is about twice the normal figure price (plus you have to actually win the league, but you get free retries if you fail). The important thing here is that it requires players to actually give BM some money; you can't use pizza won from leagues/tournaments/MM.
