I believe adding an icon to the campaign map when league entries are open would increase league participation. In part by reminding SP players a league is running (I often get into grind mode and miss one), and also to increase the chance that SP-only players who haven't tried leagues might give them another look and be impressed. I think it would fit well to the right of the chest icon by the Multiplayer button, and possibly use 2 icons; one color for when entries start within 30 (or 60) minutes, and a different color while entries are open.
The message displayed when your pod is filled can appear at any time (like I had it after clicking log in while things were still loading or during a SP battle I started while the pod was filling) so I guess displaying this kind of pop up on any online account can be done when a league starts. And maybe people will come out of curiosity about the leagues and will stay in the lobby chat because the community is actually awesome. Message can be something like "A new League just started! Click on Multiplayer to find more about it or to register."
Hmm, I could see a popup being easier and more reliable, I like it - BUT two things to note. 1) It would have to be programed unlike some of the current popups that "store up" when you're not online and display when you log back in. The last thing anyone wants is to log in after not being on for a couple days and have to click through 5 popups about league signups open for leagues that have long since ended. 2) There should be a way to turn league announcements off in the options setting. No point in driving away SP players because they get tired of clicking a popup every 10 hours.
Not sure but I think I have ever just loged in, registred for league, closed browser and had only the 5th place pop up and no pod has been filed one.
I was thinking of just an unobtrusive little icon that appears near the multiplayer button, but having a selectable notification pop-up would also be great.
I've gotten those "your pod is full"-messages a lot many hours after league has ended. And cmon, people quitting because they have to press 1 "OK" every 10 hours?
Bumping this, because I still think it's a good idea. And because I keep missing leagues. And because I don't think I'm the only SP grinder it would help.
