[Suggestion + Feedback] More Store/Retrieve slots

  1. Dear Jon + Blue Manchu: I'm entirely new to tabletop RPGs and collecting games, but I really love what you've done here. I've been playing roughly since launch and visiting the forums more recently, and now I'm sorry I missed beta! Right now I'm playing with various party combinations and trying to refine a couple custom builds for the Yellow Dragon and Cardstock II. My compliments on those adventures in particular: the former feels like a challenging but well-balanced "final exam" for SP that tests much of what we've learned about planning for very different enemies—I no longer fear Xanthicus or his fratricidal ogre lackeys, but I’m still trying to figure out a less grinding way to take out those annoying wisps without building for them too specifically—while the latter is tons of fun for good old-fashioned ass-kicking. (I just took out an enemy priest with 28 points of Powerful Hack + All Out Attack + Unholy Wellspring + Mass Frenzy...bwahahaha!)

As for MP: I haven’t braved it yet, though I’m pretty sure neither of those builds would be competitive there, where the emphasis needs to be even more on flexibility rather than simply piling on melee and Runestone-style damage (plus exploiting the hell out of Impenetrable Nimbus in the case of the dragon and his ogres). MP also intimidates me a bit in that those games tend to go fast, while I like to sit back now and then and really ponder my options, and I still tend to make dumb and costly mistakes when I’m watching the clock. So that's my next challenge.

In the meantime, one suggestion: the Store/Retrieve option for parties is great, though now that you've done the heavy lifting, why restrict us to six slots each for SP and MP? Both for quests (with the need to create single-class/single-race/drawback/lower-level parties) and for experimenting with new party combinations in general, it would be really nice to be able to save more of our efforts for later refinement. Perhaps you have your reasons for an arbitrary limit, but at least 12+12 slots would be nice.

Thanks again for a fantastic game.
