There're a lot of "named" items in Card Hunter, and that's awesome, but you don't really gain anything for equipping all of Vira's gear, or all of Bleneth's relics. I'm not going to suggest that that change, mechanically, though I have ideas there if anyone wants to hear them... ... what would be awesome, though, and maybe not too hard to implement (though it would require art work on @Ben_Lee's part), would be if a character equipping all of items in a given set had their appearance changed to a special figure. For example if I equip Vira's Shimmering Robes, Vira's Shoes, and Vira's Chain on a wizard, that wizard's mini could be replaced with a mini depicting Vira. Thoughts?
I like the idea but some won't because they wouldn't want the opponant to know what they are playing before the first character even moved. But ya I guess only fun players equip entire sets or the pro can adapt by replacing a piece of the set. One last thing, I am not really found of pink tutus so hope that if this idea is implemented, there won't be more Flax items to go with the vial (even if he deserves those special thanks for all his dedication to the game).
Lol! The feature as I envision it would add the costume to cuthberts when visiting the store with the set equipped. It should definitely be opt-in. And yes, there are other features I want more. Doesn't mean we shouldn't add things to the list!
I like this idea! Why have them equipped at all? It could be like some kind of achievement prize! Like, "set achievement - unlocked"
I know this isn't quite what Flax meant, but I'd love to get a special druid figure for winning a battle with this build: Druid Level 18 Elf Priest Big Stick Blessed Branch Frog Strapping Maple Shield Thorn Boots Green Lotus Root Beech Roots Oak Roots Unskilled Elf Unskilled Divine (substitutes: Prickly Boots, Maple Roots) I could try to put together a skeleton priest, but I've got too many divine items and nothing for the other slots (other than Giant Skeletal Arm).
Might not be what I meant but it'd still be awesome. Like how in Final Fantasy 6, if you equipped all the kappa's gear and cast imp on your guy he turned into another character.
I just thought of something: what race would these figures be? None of the racial skills fit into any set, so should we give players a figure they may not be able to use, or force Ben to draw three versions for each set?
Or BM just decides something like "wym was an elf" and then the costume is only available for elven wizards.
Good luck getting all of Hawlic's gear on a char Yesterday I got an Enormous Tree Branch which inspired me to make the druid build posted above, but of course that particular item can't be used by priests. So who would use it? Ersatz Druid Level 18 Elf Warrior Enormous Tree Branch Ztoli Branch Vinewrapped Cudgel Jerkin Of Thorns Big Ash Shield Helmet Of Thorns Thorn Boots Unskilled Elf Unskilled Martial
You know, I can't seem to stop thinking about this. And I don't really care for the original suggestion, because most of those sets would only contain a couple items and do we really want to give out figures to people just because they were lucky enough to get two specific legendaries? Also, what if a new expansion has items that match older items? (Already happened with Quick Jon.) We could use this idea for "fan" achievements instead: Chartwell Fan, Mad Eskin Fan, Red Jon Fan, etc. Themed sets (like my druids posted above) would be much more flexible than named items. So how would it work? I'd put the figures in Cuthbert's, but instead of a price tag they would have a button that tells you what items are in the set. And you get the figure when you beat an SP (non-MM) map while "using" those items. (SP because we already have 11 figures that could only be obtained in MP.) I'm not certain how I want to define "using"; these are possible rules: Your build has to be identical to the set. You have to use at least N items from the set. You cannot use items that aren't in the set. Since each figure would have it's own pop-up explaining how to get it, we could even have different rules for each.
This is going in a great direction. Kalin, wouldn't your suggestion almost be an extension of the current quests? Those already dictate rewards for completing an adventure with a certain set up. For some adventures another quest could be added that restricted the player to certain items like your druid above, and if the adventure is completed, instead of getting a gold chest, you get the figure depicted by that item combination. This *could* be a way to make some of those less desirable items get played. Although I'd shy away from having too many that contain Legendary items.
It might be silly, but it could be kind of fun to have re-skins of items (excluding holiday versions, thanks)!
