For blocking purposes, I'd find it much more intuitive if fireball treated the source direction from the center of the burst, rather than from the caster. (particularly since LOS is worked out from middle of the burst) This would run the risk of making fireball slightly more powerful, but adds a bit of tactical usefulness to this and future bursts.
I must say i agree to this. It adds flavor to it too. Imagine Fighter seeing Mage prepare Fireball, brace behind his shield, then ... boom the blast comes from behind him. Balance whise it would make FB a little more powerful, but mages player will often have to choose between hitting 2 opponents and voiding one guy's block.
However. Consider that if you can see the mage dude, you can see the Fireball coming, thus, unless the Fireball is supersonic, you can probably follow it with your eyes, predict where its going to land, and ajust accordingly to block the blast that comes from behind. Converselly, if the mage is shooting from behind and the fireball falls right in front of you, you wouldn´t have enough time to react or reajust, even if it is in front of your eyes, because you did not catch its approach. I actually thought that´s how it worked, but i´m glad that´s NOT how it works. Giving Fireball an effective Hard to Block 5 won´t help on Burst´s resume and will likely confuse other players
Then clearly, the character should be allowed to block if facing the caster, but then turn toward the origin square after the burst goes off. Using GregarFalzar's logic.
