The lootfairy works on a 25 hour schedule, while there's a league every 5 hours. Because 25 is a multiple of 5, it is possible to know if league registrations are open by consulting the fairy tracker without loading up the game. (though not which of the four leagues is it actually is, as there are 5 leagues per lootfairy cycle) Last month, league's would open at x6:00(06:00/16:00) and x1:00. For the next month, leagues will open whenever the tracker hits x9:00 and x4:00. It shifts 2 hours every month, making it harder to remember which time-periods to look out for. It would be practical if registrations could open whenever the fairy tracker hits x5:00 and x0:00.
Interesting proposal. To my understanding, Flaxative started the tracker in the name of the Sorcererers (best guild in Cardhuntria!) before he got staffed, making it technically a player creation. (And, even if he had become staff already, the fact that he wrote it up as SRC makes it player-made really anyway, plus the fact that he studied it out with help from others shows he wasn't given details about inner workings.) In a similar vein, Flak (long after being in BM for sure) -- again in the name of the Sorcererers guild -- created a hub for all kinds of good tools players would like. I still visit this page nigh daily for The Daily Deal and the Loot Fairy, although unfortunately, it takes some manual labor to get it up-to-date with leagues, thus that info's been dropped for months. It's a good thing it's a free, unfinished, free service, huh? $;^ b Another caveat is that the leagues aren't always on this crazy five-hour schedule. However, come to think of it, hasn't this Gift of League been steady since BM introduced Steam, Co-op, etc.? They do their own thing of course, but with AI right around the corner, I predict they'll want to keep the league frequency up for all the publicity and new traffic they'd be generating. Not exactly agreeing or disagreeing. Despite some obvious advantages in your suggestion, its usefulness could also be transient as league schedules could be fickly fiddled with anytime (and it's even possible that purposefully aligning it with the Fairy could cause undue player disappointment if it changes again for whatever reason, thereby potentially limiting BM because they do like to please their players (who are also their customers)). Just essaying. $:^ ]
Or set it up so a league will start an hour before the fairy moves, so players who like to play leagues and hunt can do both. Anything consistent will be easier to keep track of.
